It has been a busy week in the Missouri House of Representatives, with two weeks remaining in the legislative session we are working quickly to move legislation through the General Assembly and hopefully to the Governor’s desk. Below, you will find some important highlights of the previous week here at the Capitol.

Jack Lee Parrish of Warsaw, MO was sentenced to an Order of Commit on 04/17/23 for Tampering with a motor vehicle – 1st degree. Subject was released for time served.
 
Jessica Dawn Gibbs of Chilowee, MO was arrested on 04/19/23 on a Benton County warrant for failure to appear – felony. Bond was set at $20,000 cash/surety. Subject is being held in the Benton County Detention Center.
 

Hwys 65 & 54 To Delay For Resurfacing

Drivers can expect lane closures and occasional traffic delays on U.S. Routes 65 and 54 in Benton, Dallas and Hickory counties for a resurfacing project beginning the week of May 1, the Missouri Department of Transportation said.
 
This is the work being done on this project:
 
Benton County – U.S. Route 65 southbound lanes from Benton/Pettis county line south approximately four (4) miles to a point north of Missouri Route 52 (Cole Camp Exit)

Mary Jane Magallan of Lebanon, MO was arrested on 04/10/23 on a Johnson County warrant for DWI. Bond was set at $2,500 cash/surety. Subject is being held in the Benton County Detention Center.
 
Doyle Darnell Brown II of Warsaw, MO was arrested on 04/10/23 on a Hickory County warrant for violating a condition of supervision – sex offender loitering within 500 feet of a school. Bond was seat at $50,000 cash/surety. Subject was transported to another county.

Justin C Bowlin of Warsaw, MO was arrested on 04/03/23 on a Benton County warrant for unlawful use of a weapon and resisting/interring with arrest. Bond was set at $50,000 cash/surety. Subject is being held in the Benton County Detention Center.
 
Tyshawn Rahmann Carr of Kansas City, MO was arrested on a Benton County warrant for trafficking drugs and unlawful use of drug paraphernalia. Subject is being held in the Benton County Detention Center with no bond.

The last two weeks have been very busy in the Missouri House of Representatives. Last week was Budget Week. The House passed a budget of almost $46 billion; that budget was sent to the Senate for their consideration and it will most assuredly come back with many changes. With 18 hours of debate on the House Floor that was heated at times, we put in some long days to approve this budget. This week we continue to work bills as normal and we are beginning to hear Senate Bills in our House Committees.
 

MDC Hosting Free Global Big Day Birding Hikes On Cole Camp Prairies

Join Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) biologists for a free Global Big Day birding event featuring native grassland birds. MDC will host guided birding hikes from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, May 13, at several remnant prairies in the Cole Camp area, south of Sedalia. Grassland and other bird species will be spotted and counted to add to the eBird database. The hikes will also honor World Migratory Bird Day.
