Paxton Tabbed To Lead Lady Cardinals Softball

Aleah Paxton was recently named new head softball coach at Lincoln She is a Lincoln and State Fair Community College graduate. 
 
Paxton pitched the Lady Cardinals to the 2019 state softball championship. 
 
She served as the first ever junior high coach last season and was an assistant to the varsity squad. 
 

First Inning Sinks Cole Camp In Sectional Play

It was a nice evening for baseball on Tuesday in Cole Camp. Barstow made the long trip into Bluebird territory and came away with the sweet victory. They scored four times in the first inning on their way to a 6-3 sectional win over the Bluebirds.
 
Barstow came in at 21-6, dressed in Yankees pinstripes and, except for a couple of errors on the infield, they looked like the real deal.
 

Thayer Sisters Excelled As Rare Pitcher, Catcher Duo For Cole Camp

Both Karley and Emma Thayer earned All-District  softball honors for Cole Camp this past season. The sisters have been inseparable over the years, but that is about to change to some extent as Karley will soon be off to play softball at Moberly Area Community College. It will also mark the end to their time as a successful pitcher and catcher combination. Although she pitched the last several years, Karley will move to the outfield in college leaving
Emma with a new battery mate at Cole Camp next season for her junior year.

Ladycats Wrap Up Season With Awards Banquet

In a special evening of awards last Tuesday, the 2023 Warsaw softball team put an "official" cap on their 21-7 season.
 
The Ladycats took first place in the Buffalo Lady Bison Invitational; by going undefeated in conference play, they were the champions of the Ozark Highlands Conference; they won their sixth district crown in seven years when they beat Lone Jack, 8-2 in the Class 2 District 8 championship and they were state quarterfinalists, before falling to Fair Grove, ending their season.

Harrison Finishes First In 100M At MSHSAA State Championships

BRINGING HOME STATE MEDALS, Cole Camp's Ben Steenburgen (left) took 6th in the 300m Hurdle event while Reid Harrison (right) took 8th in the 200m Dash and, with a time of 10.86 in the 100m Dash, brought home the state championship. 

Freshmen Step Up As Lincoln Takes Class 2 District 13 Title

With two of their top four pitchers, who were also offensive and defensive keys, injured in the preseason and at times starting an all freshman infield, Lincoln's prospects of winning their district looked bleak. However, both injured players are back and the freshmen have matured. On Wednesday, it all came together in their 4-3 victory over Windsor at Lincoln to win the Class 2 District 13 championship.
 

Cole Camp Wins First District Crown In Nearly A Decade

Cole Camp head coach Brendan Rusk, in his second year, was a senior on the 2013 team that last won the district baseball championship for the Bluebirds. Their head coach then was none other than his father, Todd Rusk.
 
On Thursday, May 18, the 13-15 Bluebirds, seeded third, defeated fourth seed Butler in come-from-behind fashion 4-3 to claim Class 3 District 13 bragging rights.
 
Chase Von Holten, after giving up 2 runs in the first, settled down for a 6 hit seven inning victory. 
 

Bluebirds Golf Takes Fourth At State

Cole Camp won the Class 1 state golf championship last year and were moved up in class. 
 
Coach Brandon Harding commented, "Cole Camp placed 4th at the Class 2 State Golf Tournament.  The team shot a 693 for the two days.  Both days were well above our season averages so it was not a great feeling knowing we did not play our best.  It was exciting to place at State again however.  Moving up a class and still managing to place 4th is a big deal."
