Warsaw Beats Green Ridge On Memorable Night

It had been several years since WHS had played Green Ridge in a boys basketball game. Former WHS HOF basketball player Bobby Barnes remembers, “We would play Green Ridge all of the time and we never lost. It was good times and great memories.”
Warsaw changing conferences opened up some games on the schedule and a trip to the little town of less than 500 people with a pretty decent Class 1 basketball team was chosen to round out the schedule.
On Friday,  December 21, 2018, the two teams met again and this time at least four people forge a lasting memory.

Cole Camp’s Press Beats Lincoln Girls

What do you do when an opposing team has only six available players and their point guard is out with an injury? A full court press is usually in order and that was exactly what Cole Camp did against Lincoln last Thursday night in a 44-25 victory for the Lady Bluebirds. 
They pressed the entire game even when they were up by 22 points with just seconds on the clock.
Sophomore Jordan Young has been out all season after knee surgery and she has re-injured her knee in practice and may miss the entire season.

Lincoln Beats Cole Camp During Fast Paced Contest

Whenever Lincoln and Cole Camp compete in any sport, there is always more to the story than just the final score. Having said that, Lincoln traveled to Cole Camp last Friday night and defeated the Bluebirds 54-45.

Lady Bison Too Much For Warsaw

The Buffalo Lady Bison came to town last Friday night and defeated the Warsaw Lady Cats 75-45.
Junior Aubrie McRoberts had all 12 of Warsaw’s first quarter points as WHS trailed 20-12. She would have 15 of 19 first half points as the Lady Bison beefed up their lead to 37-19.
McRoberts #21 had 26 points for the game. Her counterpart #21 for Buffalo, C. Austin, had 27 to lead the Lady Bison.
McRoberts was 4-5 from the charity strip and Warsaw was 8-11. It was 56-34 after three. 

Wildcats Earn A Win With Balanced Scoring

After a disappointing  loss to Buffalo 66-59 last Friday, WHS Head Coach Scott Floyd decided some changes were in order.
So, on Monday night against El Dorado Springs, Trey Palmer was moved to point guard, Logan Davis became the shooting guard, and Tristan Reynolds started at center.
Well, it worked as Palmer lead the scoring with 19 points, Matt Luebbert had 18 and Davis had 16 in the 61-49 Ozark Mountain Conference victory.

Lincoln’s Spectacular Season Ends One Step Shy Of Victory

The Lincoln Cardinals lost 44-0 to Hayti on Saturday, December 1, in the state class 1 championship game in Columbia, MO.
However, as Paul Harvey used to say, “Here is the rest of the story.”
First year Lincoln Head Football, Coach Kevin Lafavor, commented before the season started, “A 7-2 record is realistic, but I also think going undefeated in the regular season is realistic.”

Cole Camp Takes Measure Of Lincoln

Second seeded Cole Camp defeated the seventh seeded Linclon Lady Cardinals 53-30 on Monday night in the Warsaw tournament .
With just six active players, the Lincoln Lady Cardinals gave a good account of themselves against the Lady Bluebirds. Falling behind 8-0, the Lady Cardinals battled back to trail 17-7 after one. The full court press hurt Lincoln but it was Cole Camp’s inside-outside presence that was too much in the end.
Laney Williams, a 5’ 11 senior, had 16 points and was tough on the inside all game long It was 34-16 at half.

Lincoln Makes School History

It was nine years ago that they started the football program at Lincoln high school. They suffered through some tough times, but survived and here they are, one step away from the ultimate prize. 
Lincoln defeated Mid - Buchanan 14-13 in an epic struggle on the road Saturday to earn the right to play the number one ranked team in the state in Hayti, who destroyed Western 54-0 in the other final four matchup. 

Cole Camp Wins Opener Over Lady Cats

The Cole Camp Lady Bluebirds defeated the Warsaw Lady Wildcats 59-50 on Monday night at Warsaw.
Behind the scoring of Aubrie McRoberts, the Lady Cats lead 11-8 after one. However, the Lady Bluebirds behind Camri Schear’s nine second quarter points took a 28-21 lead halftime. She was 7-10 from the free throw line in the quarter and 11-17 for the game as Warsaw had no answer for the 5’10 senior. She had 26 on the night and McRoberts  had 20.

Lincoln Makes Final Four

Two years ago, the Lincoln Cardinals tasted defeat at the hands of Monroe City in the final four. On Saturday, in Lincoln, the Cardinals earned the right to try again after defeating Adrian 38-14.
Make no mistake, regardless of the final score, it wasn’t easy. Lincoln would stall on their first drive after Tanner Bays would run the kickoff to the 42. QB Jackson Beaman would be stopped on two short gains before LB James Keating would blitz and sack Beaman after a short scramble.
