Lincoln Fans Assemble To Watch 2019 Softball Final Four

While the rest of Lincoln was home or crappie fishing ,20-30 parents ,coaches, players and fans, sat in the dark on Friday, May 1, in the back of pickups or in lawn chairs from 8-10  to watch a softball game.
With the 2020 season being canceled, a trio of softball moms brainstormed a three Friday night event.
At the Lincoln softball field, on the side of a trailer, Lincoln fans watched the semi- final of the Final Four played on May 17th, 2019, in Springfield MO.

Lincoln’s Tanner Bays was two time All-State defensive lineman. He was recruited by several colleges and was probably going to sign with Missouri Valley. Head Coach Kevin LaFavor said he was his best player. Quarterback Jackson Beaman agreed.
Valley Catholic changed their game plan midway into the state championship game because of Tanner Bays.
Both Bays and Beaman were to play basketball and take a team that won 14 games to probably a 18-20 win season.

For the last four years, the names Jackson Beaman and Hayden Beaman have gained much attention and popularity around Lincoln and the surrounding area.
The BCE sports pages has deserving covered them both very well throughout the years.
They will graduate soon. Jackson will be off to Missouri and Hayden to Missouri Valley. Both to play baseball.

Regional Radio Rates Lincoln vs. Valle Catholic Championship Game As Top Broadcast Of 2019-20

Regional Radio recently conducted a countdown of their top ten broadcasts of the past sports season. The Class One state championship game between Lincoln and Valle Catholic took top honors. The 30 -27 victory by Valle Catholic was the closest championship game of the day.
Close championship games are rare. Sometimes there are powerhouses that no one can play with and sometimes the brackets favor one team over the other and that sets the stage for mismatches.

On Thursday, MSHSAA canceled the spring high school sports season.
Karen Goshorn Reese,retiring teacher at Lincoln and mother of Lincoln senior, Chloe Reese, said, "We have had lots of tears in our house today for many reasons but this too shall pass. “
The Lincoln Lady softball team are THE defending spring softball state champions. They are the only state champions as there is only one class in spring softball. They defeated two bigger schools in the Final Four last spring to claim that coveted honor.

Following Governor Parson’s announcement last Thursday afternoon, of in-person school closure for the remainder of the school year, the Missouri State High School Activities Association (MSHSAA) announced the cancellation of all remaining post-season events for the 2019-20 school year.

With the local area basketball season officially complete, Warsaw senior Aubrie McRoberts wrapped a career that will not only leave her name impressed on the record boards at Warsaw High School for at least the foreseeable future, but some numbers recently etched her name into the Missouri State High School Athletics Association records of lore, among many other great players to run the floors at their respective schools.

Lincoln junior Devon Parrott is a quiet young man. One could say that this was his breakout year in sports. As a kicker on Lincoln’s runner-up state championship football team, he posted some impressive numbers. He made 31 straight extra points and was fourth in the state in all classes in extra points and in points scored among kickers. Over three seasons, he is 75 for 82 in extra points attempts. He was named All -District kicker over some pretty tough competition.

With many uncertainties due to COVID-19 surrounding local society and the entire country right now, high school sports are no exception.  And those effected most, at the local level, at least, may be senior student-athletes who have prepared and anticipated their final season for many years now.  
At Warsaw, the heartfelt hurt can be felt in mere words from some student-athletes.
