Lincoln Exploits Errors To Win Season Opener Over Stover

With their first game canceled last week against Wayneville, the Lincoln Cardinals braved rain chances and traveled to Stover last Monday for a 13-2 blow out victory. However, scores can be deceiving as it was 2-2 through the first five innings. Lincoln scored six times in the sixth and five in the seventh to blow the game wide open.
 
Caden Smallwood started on the mound for the Cardinals and pitched three innings giving up four hits and one earn run after three innings.
 

Cardinals Split In Doubleheader On Saturday

A muddy field forced the Lincoln Cardinals to move their Saturday home doubleheader to Russellville.
 
The host school pounded the Cardinals 15-0 in four innings. Kaleb Mundy, who pitched four scoreless innings in their first game, took the loss giving up eight runs on 11 hits over 1.1 innings. Lincoln managed just one hit.
 
Alex Oligshlaeger, the best 5'11" center on the basketball court in the area, also proved his worth on the baseball field as a hitter with two hits and four RBI's.

Brewster Notches Shutout As Ladycats Roll Past Lincoln

The Ladycats newest pitcher, freshman Brylee Brewster didn't allow a single run, throwing a complete game shutout in Warsaw's 15-0 victory on Saturday.  The game was called after 3 innings due to the "mercy" rule. 
 
The game, originally scheduled to be played in Lincoln, was moved to Warsaw after last week's rain left the Lady Cardinals field unplayable.
 

Warsaw Wins Opener Behind Ferguson's No-No

Warsaw freshman Garrett Ferguson was beyond brilliant on the mound in his first varsity start for the Wildcats as he tossed a 3 inning no-hitter in a 16-0 blowout win over Green Ridge.
 
The Wildcats led just 3-0 after two but exploded for 13 runs in the third inning to put things out of reach.  
 
James Kellner, Tayten Boyer, Dakota Steinhoff, Brady Slavens, Kendall Bagley and Gaven Cunningham all had RBI's in the frame. 
 

Warsaw Leads Early, Cruises Past Tipton

The Warsaw Wildcats cruised to another early season win on Friday afternoon, 9-2 over Tipton in a game played at Versailles. 
 
Warsaw took the lead in the first on RBI hits off the bats of Gaven Cunningham and Kendall Bagley to make it 3-0.
 
The Wildcats plated 1 more run in the second on a sacrifice fly by Brady Slavens to score Tayten Boyer for a 4-0 lead.
 
Dakota Steinhoff doubled in Gage Whitaker and Kendall Bagley in the top of the third to make it 6-0.  
 

Ladies League At Shawnee Bend Set For Season

Men's League To Be Revived At Shawnee Bend

Shawnee Bend Golf Course is pleased announce that the new Men's League will begin on Thursday, April 14.
 
Players participating are asked to sign-in by 5:00pm for a 5:30pm tee-off.
 
This 9-hole league will feature a variety of formats, including: Scramble, Texas Scramble, Best Ball, Backwards Par 3 and more!
 
All players will be determined and the remaining players will draw cards to form teams.
 

Warsaw Welcomes Wisdom To Lead Wildcats Wrestling Program

After a year of having co-interim coaches in Billy Daleske and Nathan Parker, the WHS Athletic Department took pride by announcing their newest coach to lead the Wildcats wrestling program in Justin Wisdom. 
 
Wisdom, a Centralia native, comes to Warsaw from Willard.  There, he enjoyed much success and most recently had five of seven wrestlers medal at the 2021 state tournament. 
 

Beaman's Blast Stirs Up Memories In Lincoln

Lincoln's Jackson Beaman hit a three-run pinch hit first pitch homerun last week for Missouri  in an 18-4 rout of SLU. Mizzou Is 12-2 at this writing.
 
The red-shirt freshman's hit was his first as the first D1 baseball player in Lincoln's history.
 
In case you were wondering, Jerry Lumpe, born in Lincoln, went to school in Warsaw and went to the pros and never played college baseball at the NAIA school (SMSU, now D1 Missouri State).
