After winning their own tournament on Saturday, the Lincoln Junior High Lady Cardinals beat Green Ridge 37-15 on Monday night to remain unbeaten at 7-0.

With star player Averi Kroenke on the bench with a twisted ankle late in first half, Jenna Vandaveer would take up the slack with a 21 point performance.

Kroenke had 11 points and should be back in action for their next contest.

 It was 14-7 after one and 23-7 at the half. Lincoln made it 31-10 after and played their reserves the rest of the way.

It an very ugly game. The Warsaw Lady Wildcats jumped out early but allowed the Hallsville Lady Indians to take a 44-42 victory on Friday night. It was a strange first quarter in that Hallsville neither scored or committed a single foul and half of their shots never hit the rim.

Hannah Chapman burned the nets early with two threes on the left side of the court and hit a layup for eight of Warsaw’s ten first quarter points. It was 10-0 after one. Warsaw had three fouls to zero for Hallsville.

If you have never been to a high school basketball game between rival schools, then you are missing a real treat. If you want to see the calm before the storm, then go early to a game. Everybody is friendly, smiling and they are having a good time. When the players warm up, you will hear the pep clubs cheer. Later, the starting lineups are introduced and the students get pretty loud. The players jump center and then it is “Katie Bar the Door.”
