Jeremy Eierman Officially Signs With Oakland

As of Thursday, June 14, 2018, Warsaw native Jeremy Eierman officially became an Oakland A. It is one thing to be drafted and it is another thing to negotiate a big league contract. However, somebody associated with Eierman must be pretty good as he signed for $350,000 more than what his slot called for.Thus, giving him a signing bonus of $1,232,000.
Eierman is in Arizona and will be assigned to a minor league club very soon.

Memories Of A Bat Boy

Harvey Kirmse works at the Warsaw Walmart store. He worked for Hallmark for many years. However, it his precious memories of being a bat boy for the Kansas City Athletics that has stayed close to his heart for all of these years.
I had a chance to sit down and talk baseball with this man of many memories last week. Below is our interview.
JL- How was your early life?

Athletes Workout at WHS

Well, WHS athletes from basketball, football, baseball, track, cross country,volleyball and softball met early Wednesday morning as they will most of the summer. Some fifty girls exercised on the field and later worked out in the weight room.
Some will remember the days when girls didn’t lift weights but those days are long gone and the girls really get with the program.

The MLB draft day is something every kid dreams about. The first round signing bonus varies between eight and three million dollars. This year’s draft which started on Monday and ended on Wednesday had many people  around Warsaw watching the draft and listening for the name of local home town boy Jeremy Eierman to be called. By the time you read this the draft will be over and the futures of hundreds of college and high school players across the country will be decided.

Schepker Represented WHS At State Track

Warsaw Sophomore Kya Schepker finished 9th with a (34’ 2.5”) in the triple jump, just 1/2 inch from 8th place and a medal at the state track meet on Saturday, May 26 in Jefferson City. 
At 9:30 in the morning, Schepker squared off against the best in the state of Missouri but came up just inches short of a medal.
She took 8th place on her last jump with that 34’ 2.5” only to fall back to 9th when the next girl jumped a 34’ 3” on her last jump to take back 8th place. 

Reflections After Lincoln Ends Season With Loss To Skyline

They were one game away from going back to the Final Four. They had the game at home and had a pretty good pitcher on the mound. However, Skyline 25-5 would erupt for eight runs in the second inning and lead 11-2 for most of the contest in taking the victory over Lincoln 11-4 to move on to the Final Four.
After trailing 11-1 after three, Lincoln’s defense and a run in the fourth inning would keep the Tigers from the ten run rule to push the game to seven innings and give the Cardinals a chance to rally.

Bike Race Fun Despite Rain

The Down N’ Dirty Missouri Championship Bike Race  was a huge success and a lot of fun despite periods of heavy rain on Saturday. 
One of the adult racers, Kyle Eichler, was pumped up for the event on Saturday minutes before his 3:00 P.M starting time. Eichler commented, "I have been doing this for about five years. It is a lot of fun. Like any hobby it can be as expensive as you want it to be.”

Four Brothers, One Town, One Team

It is very unusual to have four brothers attending the same high school at the same time. The four J’s, Jarrett 18, Jaycee 18, Jordan 17 and Jamison 15 attended and played together for the first time at Cole Camp this past year. Anyone who picked up a program at a ball game couldn’t help but noticed these four kids with the same last name.

Corbin Reese To Attend SW Baptist

Corbin Reese, the lanky 6’4 left handed pitcher, has signed a letter to attend Southwest Baptist University to play baseball for the Bearcats in the fall. Reese will be coached by Head Coach Chris Martin.
Reese has pitched, played first base and the outfield for Lincoln. He has been a four year starter with conference and district honors multiple years. Lincoln has finished third in state the last two seasons.

Chapman And Larsen Earn Jackie Downing And Jerry Lumpe Awards Of Excellence

The Jackie Downing and Jerry Lumpe Awards of Excellence are given to the Warsaw girl and boy (senior) who excels in athletics, academics and attitude. The awards are presented in association with the BCE and WHS. BCE Sports Editor Johnie J. Logue and WHS A.D. Ryan Boyer made this year selections.
