Fellowship Of Christian Athletes Comes To Warsaw

This week, Monday through Thursday, the Fellowship of Christian Athletes are having a four day camp for boys and girls from grades 3-5 on Monday and Tuesday and 6-8 on Wednesday and Thursday at WHS.
The activities include volleyball, baseball, softball, football and basketball. They also have Bible devotions and refreshments for the kids.

Changes On and Off Field For Warsaw Football

There has been some coaching changes for the Warsaw Wildcats. Also, there are improvements to the field, thanks to the passing of the bond issue, that are coming later on next year in 2020.
The Wildcats were 2-8 last season and Head Coach Ryan Boyer hopes this season will be a defining moment in the program.
In his third season at the helm, Coach Boyer said, “Consistency is the big thing right now. The kids we have know our expectations.”

MSHSAA Set To Level Playing Field

The Missouri State High School Athletic Association (MSHSAA) is set to make big changes  on the way the individual classes are set up. As most know, sometimes the bottom teams of a class are pitted against teams of several hundreds of more students. Also, the classifying the private school will be changed. Again, most know that the private schools have the dark dirty secret of having the ability to recruit. Below are the proposals.

Beck And Swisher New WHS Volleyball Coaches

The Warsaw volleyball program will be in a rebuilding program for the next couple of seasons. The team went winless last  season and usually lost in two straight sets and with that the fan base slowly disappeared although the pep club usually came out in full force.
 On top of that, Coach Hodges retired and the recent hiring of a new coach apparently didn’t work out.

When opposing baseball teams play Lincoln, their coaches tell their players that Lincoln has a D-1 prospect. While there are several All-State players walking around, not too many players carry the D-1 (Division-1) label. Junior Jackson Beaman usually gathers in an intentional pass or is pitched around in almost every game. Rightfully so, as he has been All-State for the past three seasons.

Lincoln's Paxton And Mackey Selected On All-State Team

Lincoln’s Senior Aleah Paxton was selected among the first All-State first team  pitchers. Junior Haley Mackey, one of the best catchers around, was named to the second team as the Designated Player. 
Paxton had games where she was dominating in striking out over two- thirds of the batters she faced. She also was a tremendous offensive threat in hitting behind the cleanup spot in the lineup. Paxton had several key hits during the final four.

Warsaw Has New World Champion

Brian Phillips, owner and operator of Warsaw Fitness, traveled to the Ukraine recently and on May ,18, 2019 brought home the gold. He would win six gold medals in the World Power Lifting Alliance, breaking six world records and four Missouri records.
The U.S. came in third as a team. The event lasted four days but Phillip’s event took just one day. He weighed in at 181 pounds. Spot lifting is his bread and butter. "I beat last year’s champion and that was one of my goals.”

Love, Schepker And Alcantara Shine At MSHSAA State Meet

While school was offically out last week, three Warsaw athletes had some unfinished business to attend to and even extreme weather and a change of location couldn’t stop them.
MSHSAA State Track & Field was suppose to be a two day event (May 24, 25) in Jefferson City at Jefferson City High School, but due to a Tornado that  hit the Capitol City on Wednesday May 22, the meet was postponed to May 25th and moved to an alternative site.

Luebbert And Glenn Receive Lumpe And Downing Awards

Seniors Jessie Glenn and Matt Luebbert were awarded the Jackie Downing and the Jerry Lumpe Awards last Wednesday at WHS. The awards are actually character awards based on athletic achievements plus their behavior in and outside of the school atmosphere and school settings. It is consider a community award in cooperation with WHS.
