Costly Mistakes Beat Wildcats

With a steady drizzle coming down for most of the game, the Cole Camp Bluebirds took advantage of some bad snaps and fumbles and went on to beat Warsaw 24-6 at Randy Morrow Field last Friday.
The Wildcats had practiced with a wet ball during the week in anticipation of the day long rain that would plague Warsaw on Friday.  However, in the end, Cole Camp would just simply outplay the Wildcats when it seemingly counted the most.

Warsaw Volleyball Girls Struggle

It is certainly not from a lack of effort but the WHS Volley girls are 0-2 after losing in straight sets to Sherwood at home last Thursday night.
They lost 25-23 in the opening contest. Sherwood  led 9-8 and never trailed although the Lady Cats pulled it to 22-22 but couldn’t overtake a taller and well coached Sherwood team.
They lost the second match 25-12. The JV also lost in two sets.

Warsaw Loses Nailbitter To Knob Noster On Friday

Even though the Warsaw Wildcats lost 44 - 40 Friday night. Coach Ryan Boyer was happy with his team. He could be heard saying across the field “Now that was a football game”! Later he commented, that although we lost, I was happy with the effort we gave tonight. We had ten times of heart than we had last week. I told the kids last week “We instead of Me” “and I guess they got it”. 

Lincoln Opens Season With Road Victory

The ever motivated Lincoln Cardinals started their season with a 41-8 road victory over Rich Hill. The ever smiling Bo Kroenke, who has stepped into the quarterback role with the injury to Jackson Beaman, showed off his arm with three TDs. Two were to Nate Hesse and one was to the fleet footed Landon Bond. Kroenke was 9-13 for 161 yards in the air and 5-57 on the ground.
Sophomore kicker Devon Parrott had a 44 yard field goal to show off his leg. He hit one for 48 earlier this summer in practice. He will be a huge weapon somewhere down the road in a close game.

Warsaw Loses To Midway At Home Season Opener

The Warsaw Wildcats came into the opening game of the season with high expectations. The talk around town was that they would handle Cass Midway as  Lincoln did in their jamboree a week ago. However, the Wildcats  stumbled to a 19-6 loss as the Vikings’ speed on defense, passing and the Wildcats mistakes proved to be difference.
Head Coach Ryan Boyer commented, "There were  some good things and some bad things. Our blocking and defense hurt us as well as penalties earlier on. Both teams played the first half like a season opening game.

Warsaw Senior Befriends Underclassman Teammate

In this day of bullying, it is very refreshing to find someone who has enough compassion to befriend and stand up for someone who is being bullying.
WHS Senior football player Eli Hawkins known by some as "the Beast", is one such person as he has befriended Sophomore Kameron Andrews. Kameron was diagnosed with a disorder called, "Short Stature’ and was made fun of by the other kids his age.

Well, the 2018 WHS Football Jamboree is history and as always it was a lot of good, old fashion fun. The fans got a taste of football and the players were able to tackle someone other than their own teammates.
Head Coach Ryan Boyer commented on the event, "The jamboree is a glorified practice and is a chance for the coaches to evaluate the younger players. It gives the kids a chance to play against someone other than their own team. We were very pleased with our effort tonight. We have come along way from last year.”

Harms To Lead Bluebirds

Cole Camp was 4-6 last season. They struggled through with several key injuries at various times and could never put a totally healthy team out onto the playing field. This season, Head Coach Kevin Shearer, in his 14th  year with a record of 96-76 overall, is hoping for a better fate.They have 41 players on their roster and they are ready for the season to start.
They were banged up when they lost to Warsaw in the districts last year but Coach Shearer gives Warsaw all of the credit in the world, “Coach Boyer had really done a fine job with his team.”

The Warsaw high school softball team has 22 girls scheduled for playing time this season. This is the most players that long time Coach Steve Larson has ever had on his team.
With one returning senior, Kinsten  Cunningham and six talented returning juniors, three sophomores and  several good freshmen, there will be competition for playing time, a very good problem to have. Last year they only had 14 players on the team and just ten the year before, so this is a luxury every coach wishes they had.

Era Ends For Reese Family

THE END OF AN ERA TOOK PLACE as Brett Reese coached his son Corbin Reese for the last time recently. Brett has retired from school administration and coaching and Brett is off to play ball at Southwest Baptist. Brett coached his son in baseball and basketball throughout Corbin’s playing career in little league, high school and Summer ball. Both left their marks on Lincoln sports and will not soon be forgotten. Sedalia, their Summer league team finished 35-16 and won the Zone tournament and finished fourth in the state tournament.
