Clinton Downs Wildcats In Action Packed Game

The Clinton Cardinals defeated the Warsaw Wildcats 70-60 in a fast paced game on Monday night at WHS.
The Cardinals, 10-12, who have been playing Class Five schools, put on a clinic on cutting to the basket for an easy layup.
The one-two punch of 5'10 Senior Point Guard Joey Naber and 6'3 Junior Jack Lankford, scored 22 points each respectfully, in countering a 27 point performance by Warsaw's Senior Matt Luebbert. 
Clinton jumped out to a 12-7 lead and led 15-12 after one.
Warsaw would take a brief lead 17-15 on a jumper by Logan Davis. With eight seconds left, Luebbert would bust a three to cut the lead to 28-26 at half.
Lankford would take over in the third with eight points as the Cardinals led 49-39 after three. The smooth, clutch, playing forward also had eight points in the fourth.
Nader had five threes on the night and both he and Lankford made their free throws down the stretch.   
Luebbert would steal the ball after a timeout for a thunderous slam to cut the lead to eight. The Warsaw band would play Black Sabbath's 'Iron Man' during the next timeout to the delight of the crowd.
Clinton pulled out to a 59-45 lead when Trey Palmer would hit a three with more backspin than a washing machine to give Warsaw a breath of life . 
 Lane Bates would muscle up inside and ended up with nine points on the night to help the Wildcats cause. 
Davis added 13. Palmer seven. Warsaw fell to 16-6 on the season.
The JV lost 52-45 in an entertaining battle. James Kellner had 13 and Austin Brazel had 10.
