With their first home game of the season because of field construction ,the Cole Camp Bluebirds won a defensive struggle over Tipton 13-12 in a dandy. Ethan Corpening was everywhere on the field and had an outstanding game on both ends of the ball.
After a scoreless first period, Tipton netted a 44 yard pass play to draw first blood in the second frame.
Ethan Shearer came up with a big tackle preventing the two point conversion. It was 6-0 at halftime.
The third quarter saw both teams unable to score as both defenses held true.
Seconds into the fourth, Cole Camp’s QB Ethan Shearer hit Gage Cross with a 21 yard attempt good for the much needed TD. Ethan Corpening, the on the money man, kick was blocked and it all tied at 6-6.
Tipton would silence the fans for a moment with a 54 break away TD run.
The PAT two pointer was no good on an incomplete pass.
Then excitement filled the air as Corpening broke one for 68 yards. He then kicked it thru the uprights and it was 14-13 as their defense held on for the sweeter than sweet victory on homecoming night.
Owen Ives led Cole Camp with 11 tackles  Corpening had eight. Garrett Strathman had 12-60 rushing yards. Jamison Farrar was 9-32. Shearer was 17-59 and 1-21 passing with the TD.
