Dorothy Ann Godfrey, age 83, of Warsaw, Missouri, passed away at her home on Thursday, December 30, 2021. She was born on October 25, 1938, in Warsaw to Jesse James and Ruby Violet Denman Gaylord.
She was raised around Warsaw and attended the National School through eighth grade and then graduated from Warsaw High School. She was married to Donald Weter in Warsaw and they moved to California and lived and worked for four years and then moved to Alaska to work. She returned to Warsaw in the early seventies. She was united in marriage in Don Godfrey in 1974 and they continued to make their home near Warsaw. She worked at Unitog for a short time and then was the cook for R-10 Elementary School near Warsaw. She then became the Cook at the City Union Mission Camp where she would work until she retired. Miss Dorothy was known for her cooking. She was loved by many who she lovingly fed through the years.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Don Godfrey, a brother Maxie Gaylord and an infant sister.
She is survived by two children, Donnie Weter, of Warsaw, Donna Cox, and her husband Cole, of Platte City, Missouri, brothers, James and Ronnie Gaylord, sisters, Bonnie Stevens and Betty Lomax, all of Warsaw, four grandchildren, Spencer Cox, Hannah Cox, Cole Jordan Cox, and Schuyler Cox, four great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services for Dorothy Godfrey will be held at Cedar Grove Baptist Church near Warsaw on Wednesday, January 5, 2022, at 11:00 A.M. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service on Wednesday beginning at 10:00 A.M. Burial will follow the service at National Cemetery. The family ask that memorial donations be made to Crossroads Family Ministries in care of Reser Funeral Home, Warsaw.
