Harry Lester James
Harry L. James, age 90, of Warsaw, Missouri, passed away Friday, March 20, 2020 at Boone Hospital Center in Columbia, Missouri.  He was born in Osage Beach, Missouri on November 30, 1929, the son of Ernie and Alta Hunter James. 
Harry served in the United States Army in Germany during the Korean War. 
He has three children, Gary, Karla, and Jamie and two step-children, Ron and Linda.   In August of 1977, Harry was united in marriage to Laura Shelp.  They made their home in Lake Lotawanna. Harry was the first commander in the VFW. In 1988, they retired and moved to an 87 acre property in Edwards, Missouri, where he enjoyed hunting and fishing, RVing to Texas in the winter and visiting the West Coast to see family in the summer.  He was involved in the Climax Springs VFW during this time.  In 2000, they moved to Warsaw to live on the Lake of the Ozarks and he became involved with the Warsaw VFW, helping veterans and serving as quartermaster until it closed and then he became a member of Lincoln VFW.  Harry loved to bowl and he and Laura belonged to several Senior Leagues at Jesters and he bowled until he was 88 years old. 
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Margie Adams and Peggy Crumsbaugh, and one brother, William James. 
 He is survived by his loving wife of forty-two years, Laura, three sons, Gary, Jamie and Ron, two daughters, Karla and Linda, a brother, Ernie, eleven grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends. 
Private graveside services for Harry will be held in Bethel Campground Cemetery and a memorial celebration of life will be held at a later date.  Memorial donations in his memory can be made to Meals on Wheels in care of Reser Funeral Home, PO Box 910, Warsaw, MO 65355.
