James Phillip Heckadon, Sr.

James P. Heckadon, Sr., age 86, of Warsaw, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, February 7, 2018, at the Warsaw Health and Rehabilitation Center. He was born on September 15, 1931, in Rich Hill, Missouri, the son of Frank James and Jesse Spurgin Heckadon.
 James lived in Rich Hill almost all his life. He was married to Laura Downing in Rich Hill and they lived there and raised their family.  James owned and operated a filling station, along with doing some farming and about whatever else he could do to make a buck. 
 When he was younger, he loved to coon hunt. In 2000, his wife Laura passed away.  He later married Neoma Costly and they made their home near Sheldon, Missouri, where he farmed raising mules and horses. She also preceded him in death and he moved to Versailles, Missouri and later to Warsaw. 
 He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Laura and his wife Neoma, a daughter, Ruby McDonald, five brothers and two sisters.
 He is survived by his son, James Heckadon, Jr., of Nevada, Missouri, six grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
 Funeral services for James Heckadon were held at 2:00 P.M., on Tuesday, February 13, 2018, at the Reser Funeral Home in Warsaw. A visitation was held at the funeral home one hour prior to the service beginning at 1:00 P.M.  Burial will be in Shawnee Cemetery near Warsaw.
