JBMS Cats Roll Past Buffalo

It was another clean sweep for the John Boise Middle School football Wildcats as they traveled to Buffalo last Tuesday and both teams came home with big wins by eerily similar, yet convincing final scores.
In the 7th grade matchup, the Wildcats offense was off and running early as Josh Harvath scored the first touchdown of the game when he took a handoff and raced 32 yards off of the right side for a touchdown on the Cats first possession.  DeAngelo Ramirez capped Warsaw’s drive when he plunged across the goal line for the 2 point conversion and the Cats were on top quick, 8-0.
Like the varsity Wildcats, the JBMS squad has been successful with their special teams units and they exhibited that when they went for the onside kick on the ensuing kickoff.  Warsaw’s Jase Hubert came up with the ball and just two plays later, Harvath returned to the endzone on another touchdown run, this time off of the left side.  Warsaw’s 2 point try was no good this time, but they had control early, 14-0.
After a quick stop on defense, the Wildcats scored their third touchdown of the first quarter when Sean Reinersten took a jet sweep down the left sideline for a 38 yard touchdown run.  Quarterback Brennen Slavens went untouched for the successful 2 point conversion as the Wildcats stretched their lead to 22-0 at the end of the opening period.
But it didn’t take long for the second quarter to mirror the first for Warsaw.  Harvath would score his third touchdown of the night early in the frame when he would race into the endzone from 24 yards out.  That scoring drive would end with a successful pass from Slavens to Hubert on the 2 point conversion to extend the Wildcats lead to 30-0.
The Wildcats next score would come from the defensive side as Ramirez would intercept the Bison and lumber 35 yards into the endzone for the touchdown.  Ramirez would also get the ball on the 2 point conversion, his run was successful as Warsaw dominated 38-0 at halftime.
The Cats would add one more score in the turbo clock shortened second half when Owen Miskell would score on a 4 yard touchdown run in the third.  Ryan Fajen ran in the successful 2 point conversion for a final score of 46-0.

The JBMS 8th grade offense was equally impressive as their offense got off to another quick start as well.
On the Wildcats first drive, quarterback Garrett Ferguson connected with Ty Williams on a 44 yard touchdown pass over the middle of the field.  There was no one catching Williams as he would score easily on the pitch-and-catch to give Warsaw an early 6-0 lead.
The defense made a quick stop and it was back to work for the Green & Black offense when Ferguson would take the Wildcats on a drive that he capped himself with a 24 yard touchdown run.  Ferguson connected with Kendall Bagley on the successful 2 point conversion to make the score 14-0.
The first quarter would end with another Warsaw touchdown as Williams would score his second touchdown of the night to make the score 20-0.
Ferguson and Jace DePriest would both tack on scores on long runs before the break as the Cats held a halftime lead of 34-0.
The Wildcats would add one more touchdown in the third quarter on a Bagley run and DePriest would score on the 2 point conversion to make the score 42-0.
Bagley would score later in the fourth when he stripped a Bison ball carrier on a Warsaw kickoff, recovered the ball himself and rubbed things in with another Wildcats touchdown for a final score of 48-0.
By Enterprise press time, both teams will have been back in action on Tuesday night as they hosted the Butler Bears at home.  Results from that contest will be carried in next week’s edition of the BCE.
