Monty D. Crowdes

Monty Dean Crowdes, 86, of Warsaw, Missouri, passed away Tuesday, February 13, 2018 at his home. He was born on February 20, 1931, in Elmo, Missouri, the son of Frank and Lydia Crowdes. 
Monty grew up in Burlington Junction, Missouri and attended school there. Following graduation he joined the U.S. Navy in 1950, serving in the Korean Conflict and was honorably discharged in 1954.
In 1955, he was united in marriage to Betty Shades. They lived in Raytown, Missouri where they raised their two children. Monty and his wife, Betty, started their own business, Capital Heating-Cooling Supply which they operated until selling it and retiring to Warsaw in 1981.
He was an avid trap shooter and loved to play Bingo at the American Legion in Warsaw as long as his health permitted. Monty was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Warsaw, the American Legion Post #217 of Warsaw and the Warsaw Trap Shooting Team.
Monty was preceded in death by one son, Richard Dean Crowdes, a son-in-law, Kenyon Culton and eleven siblings.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Betty, of the home, their daughter, Mitzi Culton and two granddaughters, Kenzi Wilson and her husband, J.D. and Holly Culton, two great-grandsons, John and Bostyn and one great-granddaughter, Remington who will arrive on May 9th, all of the Warsaw area. Also surviving is one sister, Virginia Gerstner of Peculiar, Missouri and many nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
A memorial visitation will be held Saturday, February 24, 2018 from 11:00 A.M. to 12:00 P.M. at the First United Methodist Church in Warsaw. Monty’s wishes were to be cremated and his final resting place will be at Lamar Cemetery in Elmo, Missouri at a later date. Memorials may be made to the American Legion Post #217 of Warsaw in care of the Reser Funeral Home, Warsaw, Missouri.
