Paxton and Koll Too Much For La Monte

Lincoln’s Aleah Paxton pitched a four inning no-hitter as the Lady Cardinals defeated La Monte 15-0 at home on Monday night. She walked the lead off hitter in the second inning for the only runner to reach base for La Monte. Paxton threw 62 pitches with 43 for strikes.
Both Jenna Vandaveer and Cadyn Paxton made base running mistakes in the first inning. Vandaveer was caught at third while Paxton was tagged out by the shortstop while advancing to third on a ground ball.
From there, Lincoln did little wrong as they scored seven in the second and eight in the fourth. Vandaveer went 4-4 and scored the killer run on a hard single by Haley Mackey to center to end the game. The little freshman shortstop drove in three runs and scored two.
The big blow of the game was the hard hit, bases loaded, shot off the bat of Lyndsey Koll in the fourth. The ball was misplayed by both the center fielder and the right fielder while all four runners circled the bases. It went in the books as an inside the park grand slam. Koll was 2-3 with five RBI’s on the night. She would drive in the only run Lincoln would actually need in the second on a hard hit double scoring pinch runner Jordan Young.
The Lady Vikings committed four errors on the night compared to zero for Lincoln.
Make no mistake, as Paxton made the difference along with the big bats, Koll’s blast, good defense and a fine catching performance from Mackey. Paxton  struck out eight with just the one walk. She was also perfect at the plate going 3-3 with two ribbies.
Lincoln walked three times. They raised their record to 5-1 and 4-0 in league play. La Monte fell to 1-4.
