The 34th Annual Warsaw Cup is in the books. The three person scramble played Saturday and Sunday, June 23 and 24 at the Shawnee Bend Golf Course. While Saturday was fairly pleasant, the golfers battled the rain on Sunday and the tourney ended with just 27 holes for Flights A and B and nine holes for the championship flight.
The championship flight ended in a tie on Saturday and didn’t play on Sunday because of the weather. The other flights played just nine holes on Sunday because of the lightning. Golf Course Manager Eric Ziesman commented,"Anytime there is lightning recorded in a ten mile radius we bring the golfers in.”
The trophy stayed at the clubhouse but the teams divided the $1,230.00 for first and second place. Both teams shot a 55.
The word around the club house was that John Ward, Corbin Cain, Danny Morrison and Cody Hugunin among others, had good outings and all in all the tournament was a success with 23 teams taking part.
Players came from all over the area and plans are already being made for next year. For more information on the tournament you can go to the Shawnee Bend Facebook page.
