Warsaw Fire Department Receives Room To Grow

Two weeks ago the Board of Directors of the Warsaw Fire Protection District finalized purchase of 4+-acres of land. Board Chairman, Fred Toomey, said the acquisition completed Step One of the district’s 1-3-and 5-year plans for the ultimate goal to build a regional training center.

Whether one is an employer seeking to fill job vacancies or among those seeking to be hired, the process poses challenges for everyone involved. Wishful thinking would have all parties satisfied if only every one of the 2,824 jobs within 25 miles of Warsaw listed on Monster.com, the 221 listed on ziprecruiter.com, and 618 jobs listed on indeed.com were filled with qualified applicants. These job sites duplicate many of the listings, yet even if reducing the total by potential duplications, nearly 2,000 applicants would have a new job.

Five Throw Their Hats In The Ring For R-IX Board

According to the Warsaw R-IX school district website, the role of the district’s School Board is to govern the community’s public schools by making the major decisions for the district as a whole. The board as a whole, works with the superintendent to make decisions that will best serve the district’s students. Five candidates are running for two positions on the board during the April 6 municipal election in Benton County. Brandy Fajen will be leaving the board and Mike Schockmann, current Vice President of the Board is running for re-election.

Concerns Rise As Lake Level Drops

Conditions best for snagging spoonbill (paddlefish) include water temperatures between 50F–55F and increased water flow, according to Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) fisheries biologist, Trish Yasger (Enterprise 3/22/2018).
Today, close to the start of spoonbill season that runs annually from March 15 through April 30, conditions are less than ideal in Missouri’s three main spoonbill snagging waters. Temperatures early on Tuesday morning, March 9, were 37F at Truman Lake Reservoir; 39F at Lake of the Ozarks; and 47F at Table Rock.

Murder Suicide Shocks Citizens

The bodies of two missing boys and their father were found in a shed near the intersection of U.S. Highway 65 and T Highway just outside of Warsaw late Monday afternoon.
According to Benton County Sheriff Eric Knox, electrical linemen working in the area discovered the bodies then called the Benton County Sheriff’s office.
The deceased were identified as Darrell Peak, 40, and his two sons Mayson Peak, 3, and Kaiden Peak, 4, of Pleasant Hope, Missouri.  The boys had left their home on Thursday with their father.

BCE TV Launches New Lineup Of Shows

Coming to a screen near you, BCE TV will begin a regular schedule of programming at the beginning of March. 
Starting on Monday, March 1, viewers will be able to tune in 5 days every week to catch programs that include the channel’s current shows, as well as the debut of 4 new programs.
Every weekday at 8:30am, fans can tune-in to BCE Morning News, a news program that will feature lead stories from the previous day, overnight, local weather and sports and other news.
