Benton County Rodeo Brought Bulls, Broncs And Big Time Fun

Rodeo fans filled the arena for the Twenty-eighth Annual Benton County Rodeo on July 12 and 13.
Trinity Dennis was crowned Lil Miss Benton County Rodeo on Saturday night.  Ambri Simons was crowned Benton County Rodeo Princess and Shaina Roskamp was crowned as the Benton County Rodeo Queen.
According to Rodeo volunteer Erin Kellner, both nights of the rodeo had great attendance but on Saturday night it was standing room only.

She’s A New Face At The Warsaw Chamber

Khristina Brovelli has joined the Warsaw Chamber of Commerce as an assistant to Chamber Director, Mac Vorce. She has lived in Warsaw since 2017 and brings experience in hospitality and a knowledge of the land and water to her new job. Brovelli started work on June 20, and replaces Jenn Bradshaw who joined the City of Warsaw, effective July 8.

After an afternoon of tough competition, T. J. Duggins of Warsaw came out as the champ in The Voice competition at the Warsaw Senior Center on Saturday, June 22.
Diggins, who won the judges over with his rendition of “Unchained Melody” and “God Bless America” lives in the Katy Village apartment complex.
Coming in a second place win was Donnie Worthley of Lincoln. Third place was awarded to Shelby Neal of Windsor.
There were 14 contestants in what the organizers said was one of the best competition they had witnessed.

What A Blast! Jubilee Days Fueled With Music And Fun

Despite last minute changes and the threat of Drake Harbor flooding, the 53rd Annual Jubilee Days went on without a hitch according to the event chairman Chuck Allcorn.
“Jubilee Days was great,” exclaimed Allcorn. “We were so grateful that the weather was perfect and we didn’t have to deal with any rain outs. The Jubilee Days committee appreciates all the support from the community from monetary, physical and attendance support.”

G&W Taps Local Man As New Store Manager

Kerry Wise was named new store manager at G&W Country Mart in Warsaw at the end of March. He accepted the position after serving nine years at Country Mart in Clinton where he was meat department manager and then store manager. 

Jubilee Days Celebration Is On!

Jubilee Days will take place in Warsaw as scheduled June 5-8, with some changes in location to ensure public safety in the event that there is high water at Drake Harbor. The Corps of Engineers, City of Warsaw and Jubilee Days Committee met early Monday morning to discuss the flooding on Truman Lake and potential for rising water on the Osage River, and decided to move the location of various events further inland to be “on the safe side.” 

Wild Weather Disrupts Long Holiday Weekend

 Despite the high water on Truman Lake, thousands of people flocked to the twin lake area during the three day Memorial Day weekend.
According to Erin Cordrey of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, at the Truman Overlook  almost 2483 visitors passed through the doors at the Visitor’s Center over the Memorial Day holiday weekend.  Sunday was the busiest day with 980 visitors.  “The weather was great so the high water didn’t seem to keep them away.

Museum Re-Fueled With New Exhibits For Summer

The 2019 season at the Benton County Museum began in April and will run through October. Two new special exhibits are featured this season. The first is Dr. Guss Salley, Warsaw physician for over 40 years, who also served as Warsaw mayor and Missouri State Representative. The second exhibit is entitled “Lincoln, MO 150 Years.”
