Lincoln Girls Win District, Ebeling Makes Game Saving Catch

The Lincoln Lady Cardinals won the District 14 girls softball title in Windsor with wins over Osceola 16-0, Green Ridge 12-2 and a come from behind victory over Skyline 10-8 in the championship game. The 24-3 Lady Cardinals had a dominant season and are ranked 12th in the state with Class 1-3 schools.

Lincoln Advances In Kaysinger Tournament

Top seated Lincoln beat Stover in the first round of the Kaysinger Tournament 14-2 on Saturday. Stover jumped out with two in the first to take the short lived lead as Lincoln would wake up with six runs in the second thanks to three walks and a bad bounce at short on a hard hit ball hit by Hayden Beaman.
 Lincoln was never behind on the scoreboard as the left field structure has been inoperable for several games.

Wildcats Allow Victory To Slip Away

It would perhaps have been appropriate to have played Paul Simons’ Slip Sliding Away during the sixth inning of Monday’s night game in Warsaw.
The Wildcats led 3-1 going into the sixth but Skyline would score four runs in the inning to win 5-3.
The loss over shadowed a nice outing by Scott Winters who came in for Matt Luebbert in the second when his sore elbow flaired up.
Warsaw scored first in the third when Riley Bagley platted the run on a single by Cash Miller.

Lincoln Fishing Teams Finish Well On Truman

Another High School Fishing Tournament in the books!  It was very cold and extremely windy but 272 teams competed for the top prize on Truman Lake, Saturday, April 14, 2018 in the National Youth Fishing Association tournament series. Take off was at 7:00 AM out of Long Shoal Marina and the final weigh in was at 3:00 PM.  The teams consisted of two high/middle school anglers and their boater; that is 272 boaters and 544 anglers who braved the cold and windy conditions.

Youth Program To Help High School Golfers

Schools like Warsaw, Versailles, Green Ridge, Eugene and others are struggling to fill out varsity rosters with experienced golfers. Cole Camp and Lincoln also have several new players to the sport on their teams. While this is great for the kids, those who love the game of golf would love to see more kids involved at an early age. If these kids playing now will stick with it then there should be some good golf teams around the area in the future.

The Lincoln Girls,beat Lamont 6-3 to win the championship of the Kaysinger softball tournament played on Saturday at Cole Camp. The loser’s bracket was played at Lincoln.
Aleah Paxton threw a perfect game on Friday over Tipton 18-0  with nine strikeouts to nine batters. Yea, you read it correctly. And yes, she will be the Athlete of the Week next week  since the team took precedent this week by winning all of the marbles.

Johnny Eierman Returns

It has been a long trip in a just a few years but 2011 WHS graduate Johnny Eierman is returning home to WHS to be the head baseball coach and an assistant football coach starting in the 2018-2019 season.
Present Head baseball Coach Micky Wheeler is stepping down after this season to spend more time with his family. Wheeler commented, "Our lives are defined  by opportunities, even the ones we miss.”
