Corbin Reese, the lanky 6’4 left handed pitcher, has signed a letter to attend Southwest Baptist University to play baseball for the Bearcats in the fall. Reese will be coached by Head Coach Chris Martin.
Reese has pitched, played first base and the outfield for Lincoln. He has been a four year starter with conference and district honors multiple years. Lincoln has finished third in state the last two seasons.
Reese  has played summer ball throughout his life and will be playing for post 642 Sedalia senior Legion this summer before he goes to SBU in the fall.
SW. Baptist, a NCAA Division II school, is currently in the MIAA conference but is transitioning to the GLVC.
Reese is coming off a very impressive 2-1 victory over (Class 2) No. 2 ranked Vienna a couple of Saturdays ago.
Reese also played basketball for Lincoln but baseball has always been his passion. Being tall and left handed brought the attention from several schools his way but in the end SW. Baptist won his heart.
Reese commented, "I really like the whole campus and the way the coaches play the game. There was other schools, but after awhile, there wasn’t any doubt that SBU was where I wanted to go.”
He plans on working more in the weight room to bulk up and to work on his off speed pitches and his fast ball. Batters don’t seem to pick his pitches up well,  which is a great advantage while on the mound. Reese pitches also seems to have a natural movement over the plate which adds to his resume.  A lot of high school pitchers seem to just throw the ball as hard as they can and hope for the best. Not Reese, he has learned his trade well and is still learning.
He has also improved as a hitter and he might see some time playing as a  freshman either pitching or out in the field. Eventually, he should work his way into their starting rotation.
We wish him the best.
