Dean Bristow

Lowell Dean Bristow, 88, of Edwards, passed away Saturday, December 5, 2020, at Bothwell Regional Health Center in Sedalia.  He was born on December 11, 1931, near Warsaw, Missouri, a son of Overtin and Rosa Mabel (West) Bristow.
On August 12, 1960, at Columbus, Kansas, he was united in marriage to Evelyn Garrison.  Following their marriage, they lived in Warsaw, Missouri, for almost a year before moving to the farm he loved in June of 1961.  This union was blessed with the gift of two children, Rodney and Deana.
Dean worked several jobs over the years, including EC Bishop Gunstock Factory in Warsaw through the 60s and 70s while raising cattle and running a dairy farm for over 43 years.  He also helped area farmers and their neighbors whenever help was needed.  Dean enjoyed farm life and worked hard at it, building barns and clearing the land on his farm.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Evelyn Bristow of the home; a son, Rodney Bristow of Edwards; a daughter, Deana Retherford and her husband Eddie of Cross Timbers; two sisters, Velda Quigley of Kansas City, Kansas and Salley Jo Kidd and her husband Brad of Winfield, Kansas; a granddaughter, Sierra Dean Retherford of Cross Timbers; several nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Overtin and Rosa Bristow, three brothers, Robert Bristow, Russell Bristow and one in infancy, a brother-in-law, Charles Quigley, and two nephews.
Private family graveside services were held on Saturday, December 12, 2020, at Concord Cemetery, south of Fristoe.  The family suggests memorial contributions be given to Concord Cemetery in care of the Fox Funeral Home, Cole Camp.
