Lincoln Advances In Kaysinger Tournament

Top seated Lincoln beat Stover in the first round of the Kaysinger Tournament 14-2 on Saturday. Stover jumped out with two in the first to take the short lived lead as Lincoln would wake up with six runs in the second thanks to three walks and a bad bounce at short on a hard hit ball hit by Hayden Beaman.
 Lincoln was never behind on the scoreboard as the left field structure has been inoperable for several games.
Stover scored early on a single and a double that went under the fence in left field. They threatend to score in the second with a single ,a walk and a bang-bang play at first. Then Senior Left hander Grant Eifert would strike out the next two batters with the bases loaded.
Jackson Beaman went 2-3 with three ribbies and scored two runs .Eifert 2-3 with two ribbies and also scored two runs. One bright spot of the night was the return of Derek Stephens to the batting order. He had been catching but unable to bat due to nursing a pulled muscle.
Batting at the bottom of the order,Stephens hit a frozen rope and a looping double to go 2-3 on the afternoon.
Lincoln had defeated Stover 16-4 just a few days prior to Saturday’s game. Stover beat La Monte to advance earlier in the day.
