Coffee connoisseurs now have a new place in Warsaw to enjoy a cup of joe, Red Wing Coffee House opened their door.
Owned and operated by Victoria and Rodney Redwing, Red Wing Coffee is unique to the Warsaw area because they roast their own coffee beans.
“We purchase beans from Brazil, Costa Rica, Mexico, Columbia and Guatemala then we roast them ourselves here in Warsaw,” Victoria said.
In addition to their unique coffees, Red Wing Coffee also offers pastries, hot chocolate, Chi tea, lattes, mochas and flavored coffees.  “One of my favorites is blueberries and crème,” said Victoria.
Breakfast is served at Red Wing Coffee from 6:30 until 11.  Special breakfast items include biscuits and gravy, Belgium waffles, as well as sausage and ham casseroles.
Lunch selections at Red Wing Coffee includes soup, chili or cowboy beans.  “We always offered two bowl items for lunch every day,” Victoria said.
Victoria and Rodney were classmates from elementary school through high school; however, they never dated and didn’t connect after high school until three years ago.
“I always thought of him as a little guy, but then I didn’t see him for years after we graduated and went our separate ways,” Victoria said.  When they did meet up again, they found a special friendship which developed into a commitment and they were married a year ago.  Rodney now splits his time between his job in Wisconsin and his home in Warsaw.
“I travel to Wisconsin every two weeks and we like discovering coffee shops,” Victoria said.  The Redwings decided that Warsaw needed a coffee house, so they opened Red Wing Coffee House.
Rodney’s plans are to retire in his hometown and help Victoria with Red Wing Coffee House.  The names of their specialty drink reflect Rodney’s Native American heritage.  The drink named after Rodney is Shakea.
“When Rodney retires, he can roast the coffee beans,” Victoria said.
Located at 936 East Main Street in Warsaw, Red Wing Coffee House is in a newly refurbished building owned by Rodney’s father Dean Redwing.
“We are in the process of buying the building from Dean and we really appreciate him giving us the opportunity to have our own business,” Victoria said.  The Redwing building also houses Victoria’s hair salon “Studio Victoria”, Twin Lakes Accounting and Money Mart.
Victoria divides her time between the hair salon and the coffee shop.  Melissa Brown works with Victoria in both establishments.
Red Wing Coffee House is open Monday through Friday from 6:30 until 5:30 and Saturday from 7 until 2.
