Opal L. Cardwell, age 97, of Warsaw, Missouri passed away Tuesday, November 24, 2020 at her home.  She was born on July 28, 1923 in Warsaw, Missouri one of thirteen children to Sam and Ethel (Cox) King.  She grew up in Benton County and on October 18, 1944 was united in marriage to Claude Cardwell.  Following their marriage, they made their home in Sedalia for three years before moving to Warsaw.
She was a member of the Fredonia Baptist Church.  Opal enjoyed gardening and canning.  She deer hunted and collected walnuts.  However, the most enjoyable time was that spent with her grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Claude on September 25, 1996, a son Charles Burkhalter and a daughter; Shirley Ann Cardwell who passed as an infant.  She is also preceded in death by two daughters-in-law’s; Elaine Burkhalter and Doris Cardwell.
She is survived by her children; James Cardwell (Doris) of Leesville, Louisiana, Claude Cardwell (Joyce) of Sedalia, Missouri, Glen Cardwell, of Warsaw, Michael Cardwell (Fran), of Montana, Ricky Cardwell (Monica), of Green Ridge, Missouri, Connie Burtis (Mark) , of Sedalia, Missouri, Ruby Cornett (John), of Clarksville, Tennessee, Vickie Klinck (Jim), of Springfield, Missouri, Sandra McCall (Jim) of Clarksville, Tennessee,and Bobby Cardwell of Warsaw,  thirty-eight grandchildren, seventy-three great grandchildren and eighteen great-great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews other relatives and friends.
Graveside Services for Opal L. Cardwell were held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, November 28, 2020 at the Bethel Campground Cemetery in Edwards, Missouri with Rev. Rick Dewitt, officiating.  Memorial contributions may be made to the family.  Visitation was held at the cemetery one hour prior to the graveside service.
