Ralph A. Karr

Ralph Arthur Karr, age 76, of Warsaw, passed away Saturday, December 2, 2017, at his home.  He was born August 3, 1941, in Atlanta, Georgia, the son of Junior Beggs Karr and Barbara Hacker Karr.  He grew up in Independence, Missouri, and graduated from Central High School in Kansas City in the class of 1959.  On August 19, 1962, he was united in marriage to Sharon Rue Howe in Independence, Missouri.  Unto this union two sons were born:  Heath Arthur and Grant Edward.
They continued to make their home in Independence for the next several years as Ralph was employed with Rost Chevrolet, Allis-Chalmers and Lake City Ammunition.  For a number of years he was also employed in the family business of Karr Auto Service. 
Ralph then began a long career with Kansas City Power and Light.  He started out working in downtown Kansas City before moving the family to Warsaw in 1971 and transferring to the power plant in Montrose, Missouri.  He worked for several years in the fuel yard and drove the locomotive up until his retirement in August of 2000. 
After his retirement Ralph and Sharon enjoyed traveling all over the Midwest in search of antiques and collectibles.   Ralph was also an avid outdoorsman, as he could be found hunting deer in the woods in the fall and in search of turkey and mushrooms in the spring.  For several years he could also be found at Jack’s Garage in the mornings drinking coffee and visiting.
Ralph coached various little league teams in the Warsaw area.  As his boys got older he loved to watch them and never missed one of their games throughout high school.
Ralph was a member of Rockwood Baptist Church in Independence, MO and attended First United Methodist Church in Warsaw in later years.
Ralph is survived by his wife of 55 years, Sharon, of the home, his sons Heath  (Jodi) Karr of Warsaw, Grant (Leslie) Karr of Kansas City, MO, six grandchildren (Sterling, Jared, Riley Jo, Colin, Derek and Hudson).  Also surviving are his sister-in-law Karen Powell and his Wednesday morning helper, Virginia Flippin, and numerous other family and friends.  
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Robert, and his mother-in- law,  Sharlen Howe.
Funeral services for Ralph A. Karr will be held at Friday, December 8 at 2:00 PM 2017 at the Reser Funeral Home in Warsaw, Missouri.  Visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral service from 1:00 until 2:00 PM.  Graveside Services and Interment will follow the funeral at the Riverside Cemetery in Warsaw.  Memorial Contributions may be made to the Benton County Hospice or the First United Methodist Church Scholarship Fund.
