All services for Alice “Jeani” Bowers will be Saturday, August 15, 2026, at the Fairmount United Methodist Church in Independence, MO. Visitation will be held from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. A celebration of Jeani’s life will commence at 11:00 a.m. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Fairmount United Methodist Church. Alice Jean “Jeani” Bowers, 81, a resident of Independence, MO passed away peacefully Tuesday, August 11, 2026, at her home. She was born January 20, 1945, to Charles Sr. and Norma (Hutson) Johnson in Nevada, MO.

Jeani was a 1963 graduate of Metz High School in Metz, MO. She continued her education at the University of Central Missouri where she obtained her education degree. Jeani furthered her education by receiving her master’s degree in education from Webster University in Kansas City, MO. On December 21, 1967, Jeani was united in marriage to Charles Bowers in Horton, MO.

Jeani spent 21 years as a kindergarten teacher, and 9 years teaching second grade for the Independence School District at Glendale Elementary School. She was a member of the Fairmount United Methodist Church in Independence, MO. Jeani enjoyed scrapbooking, puzzles, puzzle books, and making Christmas ornaments.

Jeani was preceded in death by her father; two siblings, Charles Johnson Jr., Marla Collins. Survivors include her loving husband of 58 years, Charles Bowers of Independence, MO; children, Steve Bowers (Jodi) of Grain Valley, MO, Charla Sallee (Robert) of Oak Grove, MO, Cheri Rasmussen (Jason) of Independence, MO; grandchildren, Jackson (McKenna), Carson, Lauryn, and Easton Sallee, Corbin Rasmussen; mother, Norma Johnson of Blue Springs, MO; siblings, Annie Parker (Robert) of Tucson, AZ, and David Johnson (Barbara) of Independence, MO.
