During the month of January, the Benton County Extension Council held elections for 3 positions on the council. At the February 1, 2025 Extension Council meeting, election results were announced. New members elected are: Kimberly Flippin, Elisabeth Fostich and Larry Smith. Members serve two-year terms and can hold their seats for two consecutive terms.
According to Amie Breshears, Ag Business Specialist for Benton County, the purpose of the Benton County Extension Council is to be a forum through which county council members cooperate in providing effective educational program support for the county citizens. They do this by exchanging information and discussing issues of concern and need, making recommendations for educational programming on topics and issues related to concerns within the county, and promoting and supporting county program planning as appropriate according to state laws and administrative guidelines. The council also has oversight for local funding support, budgeting, personnel, and other administrative duties.
Breshears added, “We appreciate the support of the citizens of Benton County in electing a solid group of representatives to the Extension Council. Without the support of local citizens, MU Extension would not be able to provide the type of educational programs needed to meet county needs. We appreciate the commitment people make to be part of the Extension Council.”
