Freshman Dasch Kaiser pitched the Cole Camp Bluebirds to a 3-1 victory over Northwest on Tuesday in Cole Camp. The victory was good enough to take the third place trophy in the drawn out Kaysinger Conference tournament.
Kaiser struck out 11 batters in five innings, gave up 4 hits and walked just 1.
Colton Dieckman came in and shut the door in relief in 1.1 innings. The sophomore gave up no hits and struck out 1 and walked 1.
Owen Caton took the loss for the Mustangs for lack of run support, giving up runs on 4 hits, striking out 10 and walking 3 over 6 innings.
Kaiser was also special at the plate going 3 for 4 with 2 RBI's. Northwest scored their run in the first and it stood that way until the fourth when Cole Camp would tie it and go ahead with 1 in the fifth and added an insurance run in the top of the seventh.
Reid Harrison tripled to start the fourth on a well hit ball to right.
"I thought I had four bases," the speedy senior later stated. He scored later when he trotted home on a single by Kaiser to center.
Kaiser drove in Drew Burke with a single in the fifth for their second and go ahead run. Burke had a marvelous game at short, snagging a screaming line drive and later throwing out two speedy runners at first
Kaiser took over at short in the seventh as Burke moved to right to give way to Dieckman on the mound.
Tipton came from behind at 3-0 to beat number one seed Sacred Heart 6-3 to claim first place in the contest following the third place game.
