The Lincoln Cardinals traveled to Holden on Friday and fell on the short end of a 42-6 score. Lincoln was missing two key players off their 22 man roster.
Holden, on the other hand, dressed out some 60 players and were able to substitute fresh athletes into the game at will. Also, their huge line of several players over 300 pounds simply wore down the Cardinals attack. It was 22-6 at the half.
Lincoln quarterback Riley Sanders, who took a tremendous hit in the third and came out of the game but recovered nicely on Saturday, was 2 for 10 rushing and 8 for 17 passing for 47 yards with 1 touchdown and 1 interception. Sanders, who had five passing TD's the week before, just couldn't find his stride .Dawson Parrot finished out the game behind center and rushed 12 times for 33 yards and completed 2 passes out of 7 attempts.
Chase Young, coming off of a huge game last week, had the lone receiving TD against a strong Holden defense. He hauled in 5 passes for 106 yards.
Sanders had three kicks for 130 yards. Parrott punted twice for 62 yards.
The Cardinals will return to action on the road against Windsor (3-1) this Friday who lost to Tipton 18-0 after three dominant victories; 56-8 over LJKHS, 49-7 over Cole Camp and 53-0 over Linn.
The Benton County Enterprise will bring you all the action and results so stay tuned.
