As the sun set on a Friday, January 17, 2025, the evening filled with both sorrow and celebration, the community of Benton County came together to honor the life of Kevin Noland at his Celebration of Life at the River Church.
The parking lot, guarded by tow trucks with their lights ablaze, was a testament to Kevin's legacy in our community.
When you entered the sanctuary it was filled with photos of Kevin, his family, friends, life accomplishments, and many hugs for his family.
Kevin Noland was a man who knew no strangers. Throughout his life, he lovingly forged bonds with people across our entire community.
His ability to relate to anyone, to form lasting bonds over shared stories, laughter, and even tears, was truly remarkable. Kevin's generosity knew no bounds; he was the kind of person who would give you the shirt off his back, a gesture many of us will remember fondly.
Pastor Hinkle's sermon highlighted the uncertainty of tomorrow and emphasized the importance of expressing love to our loved ones.
The Warsaw Fire District Chief delivered a heartfelt commendation to Kevin, acknowledging his dedication as a volunteer firefighter. The tribute celebrated Kevin's commitment and thanked him for his invaluable service.
A touching story was shared about Kevin's incredible strength during a rescue, where he famously bent a crowbar to help someone in need. This incident is fondly remembered as "Kevin's crowbar" moment.
Highway Patrol Officer Ricky Chapman shared that Kevin was a determined supporter of anyone who made it through drug court or graduated from the police academy, always ready to stand by their side. Known for being often the first to arrive at a scene, Kevin was dedicated to providing support and protection, courageously moving towards danger to assist and save lives.
The bond and admiration between Kevin and his longtime friend, Rob Cosby, were palpable. Having grown up and served as First Responders together, Rob witnessed Kevin's immense kindness, generosity, and love firsthand. Echoing Rob's sentiments, another friend humorously noted Kevin's remarkable presence, suggesting that, much like Batman, a 'K' in the sky could guide you to him, prompting laughter among those gathered.
Kevin Noland had a profound love for animals, dedicating himself to their rescue and protection, fiercely safeguarding both his and others' furry companions.
The unifying connection among those gathered was their shared bond with Kevin. Corinna Willard, a longtime friend, orchestrated a touching tribute by placing a single rose next to him, symbolizing the deep affection and respect held for Kevin. Although many friends, classmates, and former community members couldn't be present, they found ways to honor his memory and impact. Kevin's influence extended beyond the local community, touching the lives of friends and family far and wide.
It was clear that his spirit of community and connection had brought us all together. The stories shared, from moments of bravery as a volunteer firefighter and EMT, a friend of the community, to the simple acts of kindness as a tow truck driver, exemplified the life of a man dedicated to serving others.
Kevin's love for his daughter Amy, granddaughter Ellie, and family shone brightly, a beacon of the deep familial bonds that meant the world to him.
Jim Miller, representing both Resers and Davis-Miller Funeral Home, mentioned he had to step out to print additional flyers due to the overwhelming attendance; over 600 people had gathered. While he anticipated a significant turnout, the sheer number exceeding 500 was beyond his expectations. The loss of such a kind-hearted individual is difficult to comprehend, yet it underscores a vital lesson: the importance of loving our neighbors.
Kevin served as a pivotal figure within our community, offering unconditional love and support. He met individuals wherever they were on their life's journey—be it in moments of profound despair, at their lowest points, during times of triumph, or amidst victories. Kevin was always there, extending his hand and heart to those in need.
Kevin's life was a journey of service, love, and connection. He served his country, his community, and most importantly, the people within it. His legacy is one of compassion, resilience, and an unwavering commitment to making a difference. As we reflect on his life, let us remember the lessons he taught us through his actions and his heart.
The community's outpouring of love and support for Kevin's family tonight was a powerful reminder of the impact one life can have. Kevin's ability to bring people together, foster new relationships, and strengthen old ones, is a testament to the incredible person he was.
As we say goodbye to Kevin, let us carry forward the spirit of kindness, generosity, and community he embodied. Let us honor his memory by living our lives with the same courage, compassion, and love that he showed each of us. Kevin, you may have left this world, but your light will continue to shine in the hearts of all who knew you.
The farewell to Kevin was nothing short of memorable, with his daughter Amy thanking everyone for all the support, wonderful words, and support.
Everyone was offered a cookie, and a can of Mt Dew—because let's face it, Kevin and Mt Dew were practically inseparable.
