First Baptist
On Sunday, Student Pastor Ryan Campos continued the ‘Now Here’ series with a compelling message titled “How Far?”. Pastor Ryan began by describing how repetition in life can sometimes feel mundane, leading us to feel as if we are going nowhere. However, the challenge of this series is to change our thinking of ‘nowhere’ to ‘now here’ by remembering that God has a purpose for where we are, here and now. In Luke 5:17-26, the friends of a paralyzed man stopped at nothing to get their friend to Jesus. Facing many obstacles, they were willing to go through the roof because they knew their friend desperately needed Christ. For their faithfulness, Jesus forgave their sins. Christ is who He is, not who we want Him to be. How far are you willing to go to stand up for who Jesus really is? Be present now, right where God has planted you, living on mission daily. Be ready to do whatever it takes to advance the gospel!
The church is called to love, share, and reach everyone. As Christians, we should be intentional in God’s purpose in our normal, everyday life. If you have not chosen to follow Jesus, receive the grace and love of the Lord today!
First Baptist Church will not be broadcasting services on KDKD 95.3 FM radio on Sundays while the station works to repair their tower. First Presbyterian
As God’s own people, we gathered to worship the Lord in His glory and strength. Our congregation enjoyed the message brought to us from Rev. Mary Anna Townsend. She titled her sermon “ Following the Leader”. The scripture readings were Acts 8: 14 – 17 and Matthew 3: 11 – 17. Our choir sang the anthem “Upon This Rock” by Jay Althouse. We look forward to Rev. Townsend’s return next Sunday to deliver another message.
The Presbyterian Women will meet on Thursday, January 16 at 1:30 pm in Fellowship Hall. The ladies will once again be making colorful jump ropes from repurposed tee shirts. These will be donated for Samaritan’s Purse Operation Christmas Child shoe boxes. All ladies of the church are invited to join in this endeavor.
Winter is definitely here and with it may come inclement weather. Our services will be canceled in the event of dangerous conditions of snow, ice or unsafe freezing cold. Members need to watch for a text or call to alert them if
services are canceled. If the church is open but the weather turns “iffy” please only use the south parking lot door. As always, use your best judgment to stay safe and healthy.
Tai Chi classes continue on Mondays and Wednesdays at 10:00 am in our Fellowship Hall. Join in the fun while you are strengthening your core and improving your balance.
An open invitation is always extended for you to come visit First Presbyterian Church. A warm, friendly atmosphere will welcome you.
Worship begins at 10:30 am. Check out the monthly newsletter and calendar on our website fpcclintonmo.net.

Life Ministries
“The Power of the Church”
A big welcome back to church was felt by the many people who made their way to Life Ministries this beautiful sunny day. We were encouraged by the praise and worship time as we gathered together to lift our voices to the Lord in song, prayer time, and words of encouragement to each other. Hebrews 10:25 reminds us that we should not be giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching. We will seek the Lord when he may be found.
As pastor Anthony brought to us the message of the Power of the Church and reminding us that the Holy Spirit changes the world. He gave us 4 key points today to take away with us concerning how the Holy Spirit is vital in the church.
Preparing the Church- Ephesians 2:20-22- built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Christ Jesus himself as the chief cornerstone. In him the whole building is joined together and rises to become a holy temple in the Lord. And in him you too are being built together to become a dwelling in which God lives by his Spirit. We are to turn away from our sin, turn to holiness, Turn around to be changed.
The church family - All of us together are the church, it is not the building. It just sits there doing nothing, it is all of us. Pastor shared with us many scriptures including 1 John 1:7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin. He asked us when was the last time we talked to God, trusting Him for everything.
Power of the Church - We are clothed with power on high and show the character of God. A transformation happens. You receive power as we read in Acts 1:8 But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria and to the end of the earth. We were reminded again of the powerful message from Wednesday night to Keep Winning! The church without the Spirit of God is a dead church.
Provision for the Church- Get to work for God! Get serious before the Lord, go into your prayer room, war room, and ask God what do you want me to do? Mathew 6:6 But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you. The Holy Spirit is the leader of the church and provides provision for the church.
Join us in person at Life Ministries for one of our two services every Sunday at 9AM & 10:30 AM or live online @ 10:30 AM. We have services Wednesday night also at 7pm. The address: 1309 East Ohio Street Clinton Missouri. Or visit us at www.lifeministries.church for an online experience. Invite someone to church and experience the Power of the church where the Holy Spirit will be found @ Life Ministries.

St. Paul’s Episcopal Church
2 miles past Walmart on Hwy 7
“Come and See”
St. Paul’s will have the Rev. Mike Kyle with us Sundays, January 19 and 26, for Holy Communion. St. Paul’s welcomes everyone to join us in thanking God for His goodness and love present in our lives January 12 we read scriptures of Jesus baptism (Luke 3; 15 – 17, 21-22). In many Episcopal churches we reread and renewed our own baptismal vows. We asked ourselves:
Will you continue in the apostle’s teaching and fellowship, in the breaking of bread and in the prayers?
I will, with God’s help.
Will you persevere in resisting evil, and, whenever you fall into sin, repent and return to the Lord?
I will, with God’s help.
Will you proclaim by word and example the Good News of God in Christ?
I will, with God’s help.
Will you seek and serve Christ in all persons, loving your neighbor as yourself?
I will, with God’s help.
Will you strive for justice and peace among all people, and respect the dignity of every human being?
I will, with God’s help.
With this renewal in our hearts, we strive to live up to these promises, and let God’s love for us reflect into the world in which we live.
Over the next Sundays we will read scripture that reflects the spread of the good news about Jesus to the wider world. Gospel stories will be read that show Jesus’s divinity, his miracles, and his teachings. It is a time of personal growth as we learn more about and grow closer to Jesus.

Trinity Lutheran
“Jesus answered, “Truly, truly I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God. That which was born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. Do not marvel that I said to you, ‘you must be born again.’ The wind blows where it wishes, and you hear its sound, but you do not know where it comes from or where it goes. So, it is with everyone who is born of the Spirit.” John 3: 5-8.
“...You must be born again….” What does this mean?
To be born again simply means any person who HAS faith in Jesus Christ and trusts in Him for their salvation. That person is born again. It does not matter if an individual can remember the exact date and time he or she came to have faith in Jesus. It may have been as an adult, or as a young child. Our salvation does not depend on us and what we do. It depends solely on the work of God in us, through the Holy Spirit. As Jesus said in the text above, “The wind blows where it wishes, and you hear its sound, but you do not know where it comes from or where it goes. So it is with everyone who is born of the Spirit.
So, the next time someone asks if you are born again, just confidently answer, ‘YES! I know for certain I’m born again because I have faith in Jesus as my Savior RIGHT NOW!. Everyone who HAS faith in Jesus can be CERTAIN they indeed are born again! Amen.
Divine Service 1 pm. Sunday School 11:45 am. Ch.ph. 660-885-4728.

Urich Baptist
This New Year began very cold but praising and worshipping the Lord warms our hearts.
Clint Keeney rang the church bell. Mrs. Julia Klinefelter led in the congregational singing with Mrs. Dixie Collins playing piano. We rejoiced with Buford and Paula Vinson on their 47th wedding anniversary and with Lonny and Tracy Bramell on their 7th wedding anniversary.
Randy Vogt and Clint Keeney collected the offering.
Steve Sowell filled in for his son, Pastor Joshua Sowell, to bring the sermon. The first scripture passage from his sermon was from John 1: 1-4. This was when God created the heavens and earth and everything in it. In 2 Corinthians 5: 17-21 God sent His Son Jesus Christ to earth and made all things new again by freeing us from sin. In Revelation 21: 5 Christ will come again and make ALL things new again. So as we reflect on this past year we should ask ourselves if we are pleased with how we lived our lives. With a New Year ahead let us strive to live in newness and dedication to follow Christ. Have a blessed week and abide in Christ daily.

Valley Center United
We are an open and affirming church and welcome all to come to our church on the brow of the hill and worship with us next Sunday morning at 9 am.
Our hearts are broken for the people of California as the wildfires are still raging. Lives are being lost and many others are changed forever. We pray that we as Christians will see the needs of this world and react with kindness and care. We pray for peace everywhere.
We will observe Holy Communion next Sunday morning. Everyone is welcome to join us.
We believe in the Holy Trinity; God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit. We can add three other important words to know, Power, presence and participation. God is the one source of all power and love. Our faith is based on presence. Jesus is the human presence. He was born the very essence of God. Participation is within the Holy Spirit. It is a moving spirit that moves us, repurposes us and draws us into something beyond ourselves into something good given to us by God.
We have all received the invitation. The opportunities are there for us to act on and participate in. Maybe they come to us through a small voice or situations that have brought us down another path of life. It could have been through an opportunity to help feed someone or to stand up and be the voice for others.
But the good news is that these opportunities are there for each of us so we can make a difference. We must step into the presence of God and the life of Jesus, and allow ourselves to be repurposed in his name. Our actions will reveal that we are followers of Christ. Amen
