Docs And Bobbers Event Reels 'em In At Bothwell

On April 17, Warsaw was a hot spot for an event that brilliantly intertwined the thrill of fishing with the vital topic of men's health. Enter Docs & Bobbers, a unique initiative by the Bothwell Foundation's Community Relations Committee, set against the stunning backdrop of Bothwell Truman Lake Clinic.

Far from just another clinic event, this was a call to arms, mixing adventure with awareness, all designed to capture the attention of men towards an essential health cause.

Imagine the rugged beauty of Truman Lake, a sense of camaraderie in the air, in an event that's as much about the catch as it is about shining a light on men's health.

The seed for this innovative event was planted by a group of community members known for their dynamic approach to health promotion. Their track record included engaging and informative events like Medicare 101 lunch and learns, and the What Your Mama Never Told You women’s health series. Recognizing a void in men's health outreach, they launched Docs & Bobbers, marrying the pleasure of fishing with the importance of health awareness.

The Docs & Bobbers event unfolded in a heartwarming display of community spirit and dedication to men's health, leaving a lasting impression on all who participated. Central to the event's success was a special raffle prize: a guided fishing trip package, made possible by the generosity of Steve Curd, a Bothwell Foundation Community Relations Committee member, owner of Showcase Sedalia, and passionate member of the angling community.

The trip itself will be expertly provided by Jason Smith, the local angler behind Smith's Fishing Adventures. This collaboration between Steve Curd's thoughtful donation and Jason Smith's provision of his services not only underscored the strong bonds within the fishing community but also highlighted the importance of rallying together to support crucial health initiatives.

Among 20 enthusiastic attendees, Aaron Ball emerged as the lucky winner of the guided fishing trip tour. sponsored by Smiths Fishing Adventures. His victory symbolized more than just a successful catch; it represented the event's broader goal of fostering a healthy, informed community.

The evening was complemented by delicious offerings from The Grazin’ Station, adding to the event's allure. The success of Docs & Bobbers has set the stage for future men’s health events at Bothwell Truman Lake Clinic. With an eye on 2026, the anticipation is already building, promising even more engagement and excitement.
