Greyhounds Win Streak Reaches Six Straight

Boys Basketball: The Greyhounds won their sixth straight contest last week when they defeated conference rival Otterville. The Black and Gold had a 23-10 halftime lead and added to the margin to win 54-34. Sophomores Ryan Millington and Rowan Cox scored seventeen points each to lead Windsor. Junior Conner Barnes added nine. Cox and Barnes led the team in rebounds. Next up was a road trip to Slater. The Wildcats took an early lead on their way to an 81-56 win. Cox led Windsor with seventeen points. Cox and Barnes led the team in rebounds. Last Friday the Greyhounds hosted Sacred Heart for Court Warming. The Gremlins held a slim three-point lead at halftime. They then had a big third quarter on their way to defeating Windsor 57-49. Cox led Windsor with sixteen points followed by Barnes with fourteen. This Saturday Windsor opens Kaysinger Conference Tournament play with a clash against Smithton. The tournament is held at State Fair Community College in Sedalia.

Girls Basketball: The Greyhounds girls split in two contests last week losing to Slater and defeating Sacred Heart. On a road trip to Slater the Greyhounds lost a close game 38-34. Senior Dani Ashby led Windsor with eighteen points. On Friday night the Greyhounds bested Sacred Heart 42-14. The Greyhounds were led in scoring by Neveah Blythe with thirteen points followed by Ashby with a dozen. Like the boys’ team, the Greyhound girls open tournament play at SFCC this Saturday.

Girls Wrestling: The girls' wrestling squad participated in two tournaments last week. In the Lady Cardinal Invite held in Clinton, freshman Kimber Drenon secured a first-place medal by defeating wrestlers from Nixa, Clinton, and Mid-Buchanan. Junior Mackenzie Wright pinned the competition from Har-Ber but did not place. Last Saturday the girls participated in the eight-team Greater Missouri Wrestling Conference Tournament held at Lone Jack. Drenon went 2-0 to win her weight class. Wright secured a second-place finish.
The boys' squad also participated in the conference tournament. Chase Hampton had pins over wrestlers from Stover, North Callaway, and Lone Jack to claim the gold medal. Levi Williams won three of his six matches and placed third. Malaki Shipps went 4-2 on the day with three decisions and a pair of pins to place fourth in his class. The wrestling squad is competing at the Husker Tournament at Higginsville this Saturday.
