Ladycats Win In First Round, Season Ends In Loss To Eldon

The (4) Ladycats recorded their highest win total in at least 15 years with an exciting opening round win over (4) California in the Class 3 District 8 tournament on Wednesday.

Warsaw fell 21-25 in the first set and won the second set by the same score of 25-21. A thrilling back-and-forth third set went to the Lady Pintos, 28-30, but the Ladycats rallied to take the fourth, 25-22 and then came from behind to take the fifth, final and deciding set, 18-16 to advance and keep their season alive.

Haylee Cobb had 15 kills while Mady Reimund totaled 12 and Adison Sherrill and Maylee Slavens both came in with 10. Elizabeth Winters had 30 assists and Kaleby Stevenson tallied 26. Tanna Howe picked up 39 digs in the contest.

The win gave Warsaw a semifinal game on Thursday where they lost in straight sets to (1) Eldon; 17-25, 15-25, 20-25.

Cobb led the Ladycats with 11 kills. Winters tallied 14 assists and Stevenson added 10. Howe recorded 29 digs in the loss.

Warsaw ended their season with an 11-14-1 record.
