Lincoln Advances Due To Forfeit

Lincoln, seeded third, advanced to the second round of district play at Skyline on Saturday when Osceola forfeited the game and thus ended their season.

On Thursday, Lincoln ended their regular season blowing a 6 run lead (7-1) on the road to Tipton in an 11-10 loss. Lincoln led 10-5 but Tipton scored 6 runs in their sixth to gain the sweet come from behind victory.

The highlight of the day for Lincoln was back-to-back homeruns by Dawson Parrott and Riley Sanders in the sixth inning.

With districts just around the corner, Lincoln was cautious with their pitching staff as Sanders went just 2 innings, giving up 1 run, striking out 3 and walking 2.

Hunter Vandaveer, Chance Koll and Blake Lyon finished on the hill giving up 10 runs combined. Lincoln outhit the Tipton team 13-7 but 3 errors and 5 walks proved costly in the decision.

Cain Meyers, batting seventh, drove in 5 runs for Tipton while Paxton Pyle hit one out of the park. Parrot went 3 for 5, scored 4 runs and drove in 3. Sanders went 2 for 4 with 3 RBI's in the loss.

The three-man Tipton Cardinals pitching staff of Eli Higgins, Pyle and Cain Myers struck out 8 while walking just 2.
