LIncoln Advances To District Championship

The utimate goal in any sport is to be playing well at the end of the season. The Lincoln Cardinals beat Tipton 12-2, on Monday night in Windsor to advance to the finals of district play on Wednesday against Windsor in Windsor.
Cole Smith started on the mound for Lincoln and lost the two run lead Caden Smallwood had provided in their half of the first inning with a double scoring Levi Campbell and Zane Cole. Smith threw well with 17 pitches with 10 strikes but Tipton was able to put the bat on the ball for two runs. In the playoffs, you take no chances as Smallwood was brought in to take over the pitching duties.
Smallwood, their ace pitcher, came in and shut out Tipton the rest of the way with no hits and walked four while striking out 12 in the process.
Smith would drive in a run in their big eight run fourth inning to put matters away. Camden Everheart had a triple driving in two in a 2-4 night.
Tipton made eight errors while Lincoln was spotless in the field on the night .
Smallwood was 1-3, scoring two, driving in two and drew an intentional walk.
Landon Matthews went 2-3 with a RBI.
Campbell went 3-3 and scored a run.
Lincoln is now 9-16 on the year
