Lincoln Baseball Looks To Promising Future

Posted

Coach Will Lynde's Cardinals baseball team, loaded with underclassmen, struggled at times but also showed great promise for the future. Coach Lynde is a no nonsense coach, so we were able to ask him some hard hitting questions about the past season and the future.

JL: Did your team perform as well as expected?
Coach Lynde: Yes, they did. To finish 17-12 was good. Our goal was to win a district championship and we were right there and gave ourselves an opportunity to win it.

JL: Who will be your new catcher?
Coach Lynde: Not sure yet. We have two kids returning who could play there and then there is a freshman coming up that we will work with and hopefully work.

JL: How many will play summer ball?
Coach Lynde: Kids will play for different teams over the summer.

JL: Your team blew up late in games. Can that be fixed?
Coach Lynde: Going through the experience will make us better and I am sure we learned a lot about ourselves in those late inning games. We will be better.

JL: Your best defensive outfielder quit. Right field was an adventure. Any freshmen coming up to help out?
Coach Lynde: We have a couple who could help. But Ethan Goosen did a real good job coming in and Omar Torres did a good job coming and playing left field. We got better every day we went out.

JL: Any other thoughts?
Coach Lynde: Can't wait for next season to get here and try to make another run at a district championship and see how much these kids will have grown from their experiences in football and basketball. With this group, the expectations are high and they just took their first for what is going to be a good one this upcoming year in all sports.

JL: Thanks, Coach. We wish you all of the best.
