Lincoln Picks Up Split In Saturday Tilt

On a busy Saturday, Lincoln played two games at Liberty Park in nearby Sedalia. In the 11 o'clock game, the Cardinals topped Concordia 9-2 behind a good pitching performance by Hunter Vandaveer and the hot bat and quick feet of Dawson Parrott. The shortstop went 3 for 4, scoring 2 runs, driving in 2 and stealing 2 bases.

On the mound, Vandaveer went 6.1 innings giving up 1 run on 3 hits, striking out 4 and walking 4. Chance Koll came in and recorded the final 2 outs, giving up 1 run on 3 hits and walking 1. Koll threw 11 pitches with 7 strikes. Koll went 2 for 3 at the plate, driving in a run and scoring a run. Omar Torres went 3 for 4, scoring twice and stealing 2 bases. Riley Sanders stole 3 bases on the day and was thrown out once. The lanky sophomore went 2 for 4, scoring once.

The Cardinals scored 2 in the second, 1 in the third and 5 in the fourth and 1 in the fifth. Concordia made 3 errors while Lincoln turned in a spotless performance on defense. 

In the afternoon game, Sacred Heart tamed Lincoln 5-2 behind the golden arm of Carter Rice. Rice gave up 3 hits, walked 1, striking out 3.

Lincoln scored their 2 runs in the sixth making it 3-2 on an error by outfielder George Bains on a fly ball hit by Riley Sanders.

The Gremlins came right back with their own 2 runs in the bottom if the sixth.

Sanders started on the hill, he went 3 innings with Dawson Parrott and Chance Koll finishing up. Lincoln made 3 errors compared to the 1 by Sacred Heart .

Lincoln moved to 14-10 on the season.
