Marvin R. Logan

Posted

Marvin Ray Logan, 67, of rural Sedalia, passed away on October 7, 2026, surrounded by his family at Bothwell Regional Health Center in Sedalia.

Marvin rang in the New Year, born on January 1, 1959, to Ryland and Wanda (Rothenberger) Logan in Sedalia, Missouri. He was baptized on January 25, 1959, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Springfork and received First Communion there in 1969. He was confirmed and became a devoted member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Cole Camp on November 20, 1977, where he remained strong in his faith.

He graduated from Cole Camp High School in 1977, where he was active in FFA, played basketball, and was a very talented third baseman on the baseball team.

On August 18, 1978, Marvin married his high school sweetheart, Kay Meyer, at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Cole Camp. Together they built a life, home, and family on their farm in rural Sedalia. There they raised their two children, Dale and Nicole. Marvin was a devoted and involved dad who always attended his kids' sports games and other activities.

He worked at Alcan Cable for 42 years and was a fifth-generation farmer, working the family's century land together with his dad, brothers, and son. Everyone pitched in during hay season, including the newest seventh-generation. Of all his titles, "Papa" was his favorite, treasuring time with his four granddaughters sharing jokes, enjoying tractor rides, swapping nature photos, and playing games with them as often as he could.

Marvin was never short on hobbies and always had several projects in progress. He loved hunting and fishing, tinkering on woodshop creations, caring for his garden and flowers, and watching birds and other wildlife. His favorite hunting spot often varied depending on the weather and direction of the wind. Marvin was a passionate dog lover and raised many dogs over the years, with a special fondness for Lobo, Trixie, Oscar, and Jazz.

He also enjoyed cheering on his favorite sports teams, especially the St. Louis Cardinals, St. Louis Blues, and his granddaughters' volleyball, softball and soccer teams. Marvin loved to play cards and tease family and friends. He was always quick to laugh and tell stories. He never met a stranger, often visiting with just about anyone for hours.

Marvin is survived by his wife, Kay Logan; children, Dale Logan and Emily and Nicole Clemons and Cody; brothers, Gale Logan and Shirley and Jeff Logan and Sharon; sister-in-law, LaDonna Logan; brother-in-law, Randy Meyer and Wanda; sister-in-law, Sherry Westermier and Wayne; grandchildren, Kaitlyn and Harper Logan and Delaney and Haley Clemons; ten nieces and nephews; and many other beloved extended family members.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ryland and Wanda Logan, his brother, Ronnie Logan, and his niece, Jill Logan.

Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 13, 2026, at the Fox Funeral Home in Cole Camp. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 14, 2026, at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 11354 Lake Creek Avenue, Cole Camp, with Pastor Tyler Poppen officiating. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Lutheran Cemetery, Cole Camp. Pallbearers will be Brent Logan, Kendrick Logan, Ethan Paxson, Justin Meyer, Andrew Westermier, Steven Westermier, and Ethan Viet.

In lieu of flowers (which Marvin already has in abundant supply), memorial contributions can be made to the Holy Cross Lutheran Church Cemetery Fund, the Holy Cross Lutheran Church Music Fund, or Retrieving Freedom, Inc. based in Sedalia in care of the Fox Funeral Home in Cole Camp.
