Michael Wayne Schockmann of Warsaw passed away surrounded by his family June 24, 2025, at St. Luke’s Hospital of Kansas City, aged 52.

He was born July 25, 1972, in Sedalia, Missouri, to William “Billy D.” and Eula (Brooks) Schockmann. Mike was the youngest of 10 children. He was a 1990 graduate of Warsaw High School, attending Warsaw schools kindergarten through 12th grade. While at Warsaw High School, he played basketball, baseball and football and was named First Team All-State in football, the first to ever do so at Warsaw High. He attended Central Missouri State University and married his wife Deanna Gemes June 5, 1993, at the First Baptist Church of Warsaw. They made their home in Warrensburg then moved to Sedalia and finally moved back to Warsaw in 2002 to raise their family.

Michael spent much of his time hunting, fishing and caring for the family farm. He was a skilled carpenter and owned his own business, Durham Hollow Farms Construction LLC., for several years. A friend to all, you could always find him engaged in conversation with friends, family and colleagues hearing any one of his numerous “sayings”. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Warsaw for 22 years where he served as a trustee. Mike also drove the church bus on many missions trips and shared his carpentry knowledge with youth and adults alike. He also proudly served on the Warsaw R-IX Schools Board of Education for six years, serving as Board President for three of those years. He was an advocate for public education, putting students and staff first in every decision, never wavering in his values.

Michael is survived by his wife Deanna of 32 years, his children Lydia, Madeline and Logan, his mother Eula Schockmann, his sisters Susan (Ben R) Kellner, Karen (Lee) Beck, Patty Marriott, Becky (Junior) Estes, Nancy Jenkins, his brother Bill Schockmann, many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, great-great nieces and great-great nephews whom he loved very much. He was preceded in death by his father Billy D. and sisters Vivian Hutchison, Anita Ireland, and Cheryl Beck.

Michael requested that any donations made in his honor be made to the Benton County Cancer Fund or First United Methodist Church of Warsaw.

Services will be held at the First United Methodist Church of Warsaw July 3, 2025, with a visitation at 10 a.m. and service at 11 a.m.
