As for now, Cole Camp's Kevin Shearer is wearing many hats. He is the grade school principal, the high school's athletic director, the head coach for boys basketball and football's head coach. And if that wasn't enough, he is also now facilitating the summer for the Lady Bluebirds basketball team as they are officially orphaned following the recent resignation of Derald Henderson.
Henderson was offered an assistant college coaching job that was too good to pass up and, unfortunately left the program two weeks ago.
Cole Camp has 15 girls showing up for summer practices and have a really good spirit. Lincoln transfer sophomore Lilly Mellen gives the Lady Bluebirds a point guard and a floor general.
Along with fellow sophomore Madison Ogle, their combo should be hard to handle for a lot of opposing teams.
The Lady Bluebirds finished with a record of 8-18 a year ago and should be much improved.
Coach Shearer told the girls, "You are already average; we want to be good, then great."
The girls of summer may be without a coach for the present time but are in very good hands with Shearer until a new one is named.
