Testing Data Shows Room For Improvement At Warsaw R-IX

The Warsaw R-IX Board of Education met on October 23 to discuss a range of important updates and decisions affecting the school district. Below are the key highlights from the meeting.

The meeting began with student, staff, and community recognitions. The recipients included Carter Johnson–Student Spotlight; Amanda Newell–Classified Staff Member of the Month; Cody Morgan–Certified Staff Member of the Month; and Warsaw Dairy Queen–Wildcat Pride Award recipient.

New business included a review of the district’s September revenue and expenses, along with a Fund 4 Budget Review. Financial information is always available on the district website under the “About” section, by selecting “Board of Education” and then “Financials.”

Other new business included a review of the testing data from Spring 2024 Missouri Assessment Program (MAP) and End of Course (EOC) scores. Though scores are not where we want them to be, strategies have been put in place to help raise these scores. Evaluation of current curriculum, programs and schedules continue to happen and adjustments to these strategies will be made to work toward continued improvement.

Three board members and two administrators reported on sessions from the Missouri Association of Rural Education (MARE) Conference they attended the previous week.

During the closed session, several substitute teachers were approved by the board.

The next Warsaw R-IX Board Meeting is scheduled for November 20 at 6:00 PM in the WHS/JBMS Library. A full list of up-to-date events, including upcoming board meetings, is available on the district’s website at www.warsawk12.org.

The district welcomes the community to the monthly board meetings, which are open to the public, with the exception of closed sessions.
