The 35th Biennial Warsaw All-School Reunion was held Saturday, June 11, 2022 at Warsaw High School.
The class of 1953 and 1957 arrived early and were joined at 4:00 p.m. by others to enjoy socializing, viewing class photos, and remembering those who have passed.
At 5:30pm, President of the Alumni Association, Donna Stull, called the business meeting to order, and Beth Hudgens, Class of 1950, led the alumni in the Pledge of Allegiance. Then, new officers and members of the board of directors were elected. They included Sherri Hawley, as secretary, and board of directors; Linda Nelson, Gary Noland, Jeff Polly, and Edsel McMillin. Each class was introduced, beginning with 1950 and extending through 2022. Additionally, current and former teachers and staff were recognized, including emeriti music teachers Joe and Diane Bockelman.
The Class of 1960 made a generous donation of $2,500 to the scholarship fund, presented by Gary Noland.
Alumni President Donna Stull introduced the 2022 Alumni Scholarship winner, Alyssa Alcantara. Alyssa thanked the group for the scholarship and told about her future academic plans. Donna Stull read notes of thanks from other scholarship winners, Aubrie McRoberts and Lauren Kreisel. Following a moment of silence to honor those who had passed, the group sang the school song, accompanied by Jan Jenkins, who also provided music during the dinner. Sue Stevens offered a blessing for the meal, which was prepared by the WHS staff and served by the WHS band students as a fund-raising initiative. Door prizes for lucky alumni were branded water bottles.
The alumni officers and board members want to thank everyone who helped with the planning of the reunion. We want to thank Jim Kjar for allowing use of his office for our planning meetings, the Warsaw School district for use of the building, the Warsaw maintenance department for set up and clean up, the Warsaw kitchen staff for preparing the wonderful meal, Jan Jenkins for the beautiful music during dinner and the Warsaw band students leadership, the team and band director, Carl Thomas, for being our servers and helping with cleanup. The alumni officers and directors want to thank everyone for their generous scholarship donations that evening or sent to the alumni association. Most importantly, classmates had the opportunity to reminisce and catch up with one another during a conversation-filled evening.
The next all-school reunion will take place during Jubilee Days 2024.
