Possible Suicide In Warsaw Death

Michael Kephart, a 50-year-old white male, was found dead in the Cedar Gate subdivision near Warsaw on Monday.
According to Benton County Sheriff Eric Knox, Kephart had substance abuse problems and was staying with his mother in Cedar Gate awaiting a court appearance.
“It is a sad situation,” said Knox. 
Knox reported that the Kephart had died from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot to the head

Vandalized Headstones At Historic Cemetery Restored

Work has begun at the Warsaw Cemetery to repair and restore the tombstones which were vandalized this spring.
According to City Clerk Jessie Kendall, several stones were uprighted then sealed on Monday.  Wommack Monument Company from Bolivar did the work with assistance from the Warsaw City crew.
“We will keep on repairing the stones until they all are back,” said Kendall.  “We don’t want the stones to disappear.”
Some of the stones were broken, so those will need more extensive repair.  All the work is being paid for through donations.

An orientation for new teachers in the Warsaw R-9 District was held on August 7 at the CLC.

Every two to three minutes someone in the United States goes into cardiac arrest.  At least 95% of the cases end in death if an AED (Automated External Defibrillator) is not accessible.  Thanks to the work of the Benton County Health Department and the family and friends of Dr. James Spring DDS, Benton County will have AEDs in place when they are needed.

Water Assoc. Claims Warsaw Sewer Reserves Are Inadequate

In early session, Mon. evening July 16, Liz Grove, Missouri Rural Water Association Representative, speaking to Warsaw Alderpersons,  said she had completed a rate study of the City’s sewer fund. She found that, while the City’s 2018 sewer budget accounts for ordinary expenses, it does not provide for unplanned but inevitable repair or replacement costs for sometimes expensive machinery. People Service Manager Mark Breshears supported Grove’s assessment, noting that five of the Sewer Department’s pumps have failed this year and needed expensive repairs or replacement.
