United States Missouri Senator Eric Schmidtt has informed the City of Warsaw that the community has received a $24,997,004 RAISE grant. The strength of this grant application is the community’s 25-year continuous effort to improve its Drake Harbor Waterfront Park, the revitalized downtown, and combining this with a detailed planning process to develop its three primary roadways into complete streets.

Who would not want to respond positively to an ad promoting beautiful lakes, miles of trails to explore, thousands of acres of beautiful public lands, fishing, boating, quaint towns with family-owned boutiques, antique malls and thrift stores, dozens of cafes, fine dining, and pizza? Thanks to the Benton County Tourism and Recreation Corporation (BCTR), these ads are bringing more tourists to the county every year to discover our natural and historical elements.
 

Hail To The Queen! DQ Opens For Warsaw Fans

Warsaw residents turned out in full force as the new Dairy Queen opened its doors on June 26.  Traffic was backed up down the street as customers waited in line to enjoy the delightful treats that DQ is so famous for.  Owners Jorge Guevara and his wife Meagan were on hand to welcome everyone to their location at 103 Progress Drive in Warsaw.

Golden Valley Memorial Healthcare is pleased to announce that it is offering Medicare Annual Wellness Visits. These visits focus on preventative care, health screenings and wellness planning.
 
Medicare Annual Wellness Visits are conducted by phone from the comfort of patients’ homes. During the call, patients talk with a nurse about their health status and goals to create a comprehensive plan for their health including screenings, counseling and preventative care.

Now is a perfect time to get kids outside and introduce them to nature. Butterflies, moths, and caterpillars are out in great numbers and are the perfect way to spike children’s curiosity about our environment and nature. For example, our grandkids spend lots of enjoyable time outside collecting caterpillars and using their butterfly nets to stalk and capture a variety of butterflies and moths.
 

Boom, Bang And POP! July 4th Celebrations Will Light Night Sky

The area will present many opportunities to celebrate the birth of our nation at many events being hosted in and around Benton County.  
 
There will be plenty to do in Lincoln on Saturday, July 1, at the Lincoln 4th of July Celebration.  
 
At 8:00 AM, registration for the baby contest will open and at 9:00 AM that competition will get underway at the shelter house.  
 

Warsaw Rolls Out Warm Welcome For Whiteman

Whiteman Day was held June 23 beginning at 10:00 AM in the Warsaw Community Building.  The event was the first annual meeting between the local community and military personnel and their families in the Whiteman Air Force Base 509th Communications Squadron.
 
Lynette Stokes has been the Whiteman Base Community Council liaison appointed by the City of Warsaw for three years and has been planning this event for many months with a committee composed of people from Benton County’s community and businesses.

Benton County 4H, FFA Fair To Showcase Work This Week

The annual Benton County 4-H FFA Fair is scheduled to being this week in Lincoln at the 4-H FFA Fairground located on Park Street.
 
The Fair opens on Thursday, June 29  with the Sheep Show at 10:00 AM.  The Dairy/Meat Goat Show will follow the Sheep Show.  The Dog Show will be held at 11:00 AM.
 
Horses will be checked in at 2:30 PM with the show beginning at 4:30 PM in the arena.
