Jubilee Days Fills Town With Razzle Dazzle

The Fifty-second Annual Jubilee Days begins this week.
According to Jubilee Days Chairman Chuck Allcorn, everyone on the committee is working hard to make sure the “Stars and Stripes Forever” Jubilee is a big success.
“We are very excited to have two free concerts at this year’s event,” Allcorn said.  “Dirt Road Addiction”, a Mid-Missouri band playing today’s Top 40 country mixed with old classic country hits, will be taking the big stage in front of the Warsaw Post Office from 8 PM until 11 PM on Friday, June 8.

This could be a question heard all over Benton County this year. A few weeks ago my co-worker and friend Carrie Rieman used this expression while receiving a call advising her she had Alpha-Gal. I used the same expression last week after receiving a phone call informing me I had tularemia. So what do the alpha gal and tularemia coworkers have in common? Both have tick related diseases, both supposedly rare.

A Treasured Warsaw Tradition Returns As American Legion Post #217 Re-Opens

More than 200 people adorned in red, white and blue fashions, crowded the Hall during American Legion Post 217’s Grand Re-Opening celebration on May 26. The parking lot was full and an overflow of cars spilled onto the grass to the north of the building. Post 217 had extensive damage after an arson fire occurred on August 11, 2017, and it wasn’t until the day before the Re-Opening that renovation by contractors and volunteers was completed and Legion and Auxiliary members regained their building.

Memorial Day Weekend— Summer Season Off To Jam Packed Start

Perfect weather during the Memorial Day weekend brought thousands of visitors as well as business to lake area merchants.
According to Erin Cordrey of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers; at the Truman Overlook  almost two thousand visitors passed through the doors at the Visitor’s Center over the Memorial Day holiday weekend.  Saturday was the busiest day with 700 visitors.

 Graduation for all three Benton County High Schools was held during the past two weeks and now that the school year has ended the six top graduates are making plans for the summer and their future education. 
Valedictorian at Cole Camp High School was Savanah Pruitt, the daughter of Tammy and Rudy Pruitt of Cole Camp. 
Pruitt was very active during her years at Cole Camp.  Her activities included:  softball, basketball, cheerleading, Math Club, Student Council, FCA, FBLA, and NHS.

Warsaw Police Chief Wounded During Shootout

Warsaw Police Chief Jason Wenberg is resting at home after what has to be the most harrowing week of his career as police chief.
On Thursday morning, Warsaw North Elementary staff noticed a young man on the steps of North School using his cell phone.  When they questioned him, he said he was trying to use the school’s WiFi.  He was asked to leave the school grounds which he did.

“Libraries Rock” is the theme of this summer’s free reading program at the Boonslick Regional Library (BRL). Children and teens from two to 18 years of age can explore all things musical and take part in musical crafts, art projects, story time, demonstrations and more. There are prizes for reading, and a party at the end of the program. “Libraries Rock” takes place from June 1 to July 31, 2018.
