Calhoun Community Church
Welcome to the Good News from Calhoun Community Church. Our church family gathers at 9:00 am for pre-church food and fellowship. We use this special time for visiting with one another, welcoming guests as they arrive for Worship and signing cards of encouragement for our card ministry. We want to Thank Tucker McNeely for ringing the church bell this morning.
Tucker and Savannah McNeely did a great job lighting the alter candles. We were blessed to have Reverend Jackson Short lead us in prayer to help us lift up our family, neighbors and friends in need. We continue to pray for our military men and women and their families, as well as others in service jobs that we depend upon daily. We pray for guidance as we continue forward as a Community Church on the square in Calhoun, MO.
We celebrated the third Sunday of Advent with Steve Siercks lighting the Advent Candles and Verna Walters leading the congregation in singing the Advent Song. Steve played a Christmas song by Alabama.
Reverend Jackson Short delivered a message to raise our spirits, then as we headed home, we were met by God’s Blessing of Sunshine and a mild afternoon.
We are a Concerned and Praying Nondenominational Church. Should you find yourself in need of prayer, we encourage you to join us any Sunday morning. We will be Blessed by your presence.
The Christmas Season is upon us. Next Sunday is Christmas Eve. We are sending a Special Invitation to you to come Worship with us on this wonderful day of the year. Fellowship hour 9:00 am and worship service at 10:00 am.

First Baptist
On Sunday, participating members joined the worship team in a spectacular Christmas music performance called “Meekness over Majesty”. In a beautiful symphony of voices and instruments, members and guests were reminded of the special gift of salvation through Jesus. No one expected His Son to come in the way He did. The way He came is a profound part of the story of how salvation made a way. We worship today because that salvation is ours! From all of us at First Baptist Clinton, we wish you great joy and peace this Christmas season, as you celebrate the coming of our King!
Please join us for a special Christmas Eve service at 5:30pm. Celebrate Recovery is on Tuesday evenings at 5:30 pm at the Vansant location for anyone with hurts, habits, or hangups. Worship service times are 9:30 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. and Sunday School is offered at 8:15 a.m. and 9:30 a.m. Youth and Children’s Ministries also align with these times. On Thursdays at 6 pm, GriefShare provides help and encouragement after the death of a spouse, child, family member, or friend. For more information and upcoming events, please visit www.firstbaptistclinton.church or find us on Facebook at ‘First Baptist Church – Clinton, MO’.
We invite those without a church home to join us in worship of our Lord & Savior, Jesus Christ. First Baptist Church exists to fulfill the Great Commission (Matthew 28:19-20) by loving people into a growing relationship with Jesus Christ.

Mt. Calvary Apostolic Pentecostal
“God, I Have A Question”
James 1:2-8.
Joy: the feeling of great pleasure and happiness.
Perseverance: steady persistence in a course of action, a purpose, or a state, especially despite difficulties, obstacles, or discouragement.
Mature: having attained the end stage of a normal or abnormal biological process
Wisdom: the ability or result of an ability to think and act utilizing knowledge, experience, and understanding.
We should joy in trials. As we read scripture we have to see joe it applies to us. Joy means to rejoice and look at it from a different perspective.
We aren’t rejoicing because of the trials, we are rejoicing because of God who can bring us through anything.
We should develop a “ No pain No gain” attitude. Everything we go through matures us. Observe a baby who is learning to walk. He pulls up, falls, then gets up and tries again.
Bodybuilders feel the pain in their muscles until they start to build strong muscles. Perseverance pays off. We have to condition ourselves to go through the trials. Those who are in the best condition succeed.
There are strategies and skills to pick up along the way. Athletes study the playbook. When they know the plays, they can apply them effectively.
We, from a spiritual standpoint, can advantage by coming to church, Bible Study, and Prayer service. We should hone our craft.
We don’t want to bear the consequences of lack of condition. Immaturity is a result of this. We need to seek knowledge from the one who has the answers. God is that source.
He has all the answers. Let us remember to approach him respectfully and with reverence. He wants us to come to him seeking truth and righteousness. When we seek him for the answer it shows we trust him.
He in turn will give truth, holiness, and a perfect answer. No one knows more than God. Wisdom is a three-pronged issue. We need experience, good judgment, and knowledge. He requires that we have faith in him. God Bless.

St. Paul’s will have its Christmas service at 10:00 AM on Sunday, Christmas Eve. Our hope is that this change in service time will provide flexibility for those caught between Christmas family celebrations and attending worship services. Anyone caught in this familiar bind is welcome to attend this alternative time and make worship the first part of the Christmas celebration.
“Behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream, saying, “Joseph, son of David, do not fear to take Mary your wife, for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Spirit; she will bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins” (Mark 1:20, 21).
And so it came to pass. And an angel told the shepherds in the fields, “Be not afraid, for behold, I bring you good news of a great joy which will come to all the people; for to you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. And this will be a sign for you: you will find a babe wrapped in swaddling cloths and lying in a manger.” And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying: “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace among men with whom he is pleased” (Luke 2:10-14).
God took on flesh and entered into our lives and lived among us and is with us still. Come join us in worship as we welcome Christ Jesus again into our hearts and into our lives.

Church is not just for members. It’s for everyone. Unfortunately, it’s unlikely the “unchurched” are going to just show up one Sunday morning of their own volition. Why? Because it’s against their nature:
“You were dead in your transgressions and sin in which you once walked, following the course of this world...among these we all once lived, in the passions of our flesh, following the desires of body and mind, and so we were by nature children of wrath, like the rest of mankind (Ephesians 2:1-3).
Some years ago, there was a popular pop culture game called “Six Degrees of Separation” involving the actor Kevin Bacon. The premise of the game is that a personal connection can be found between Kevin Bacon and any other person in the United States in six steps or less. In the same manner, there is a connection between you and every person in Clinton in six steps or less, probably much less. In Christian evangelism circles, this idea also is known as “the web of people” concept. The bottom line is, we have a connection...or the opportunity... to invite any one of dozens of people in our community to attend church this Sunday.
The fact is, each of us who has faith in Jesus Christ likely does so because someone else in our own “web of people,” invited us to attend church with them at some point in time. It is in church where we can be sure the Holy Spirit can be found, working through Word and sacrament, to create faith in all people.
The good news is, we don’t have to be theologians or Bible scholars to invite some to church. We invite, and the Holy Spirit does the rest. As Martin Luther wrote in “The Small Catechism:”
“I believe that I cannot by my own reason or strength believe in Jesus Christ, my Lord, or come to Him. But the Holy Spirit has called me by the Gospel, enlightened me with His gifts, sanctified and kept me in the true faith. In the same way He calls, gathers, enlightens and sanctifies the whole Christian Church on earth and keeps it with Jesus Christ in one true faith.”
And it all starts with you, when you invite someone to come to church. Praise God!

Friendship greeted us as we gathered to worship the Lord. Clint Keeney rang the church bell. Mrs. Julia Klinefelter led in the congregational singing with Mrs. Dixie Collins playing piano. We rejoiced with Carl Collins and Sebastian Klinefelter on their birthdays. We also rejoiced and celebrated with Bill and Carolyn Kelsay on their 59th wedding anniversary. Randy Vogt and Clint Keeney collected the offering.
The scripture passage from interim Pastor Steve Sowell’s sermon was from Matthew 1: 18-25 and 2: 1-12. This passage describes the birth of Jesus Christ. Jesus came to bring us joy, peace, happiness and most of all eternal life. God has joy when we are saved through our faith in Him. We should abide in Him faithfully and rejoice in His gift of eternal salvation. The world is seeking to find joy in their lives. Jesus is the answer. Spread the joy this week.

Behold, a young woman shall conceive and bear a son and shall call his name Immanuel.
Christmas blessings to you all! We will have Wondrous Wednesday services online this Wednesday at 6 pm. Next Sunday services will be at 9 am on Christmas Eve and our Christmas Eve evening services will be at 6 pm, all online. Christmas morning at 9 am we will have a service at 9am online.
Today we went to see two very loved members of our church to sing Christmas Carols! We send them prayers of love and healing and hope they are back to church soon!
Andy and Karen Lasswell lit the Advent candles of hope, peace and joy this morning. The congregation sang Angels we have heard on high.
Jesus’ birth is why we are here, it brings us hope, love and empowerment. We feel it, celebrate it and tell the world about it. It is our essence. It is who we are.
But, sometimes we prevent ourselves and others from believing. We receive a different message and make us wonder how this miraculous birth even happened.
God, with all of his power and glory, gave us his grand journey to go and lift up our voices to tell the story of the birth of Jesus and to feel the joy of standing before the manger.
The presence of angels are there to help us open our eyes and clearly see and hear God’s message of acceptance and affirmation. As people of faith, we can claim our own way of being and become messengers of God’s wondrous blessings. Salvation is here and we are filled with joy!
