City Of Warsaw Receives Max Grant For Lead Pipe Inspections

In new business  on Wednesday eve, the Warsaw City Council was informed that the municipality would receive up to a $500,000 grant to defray the cost of city efforts to identify customers with lead pipes in their homes or businesses. This effort is part of a nationwide program to identify this problem which involves serious health concerns related to lead pipes 
The meeting opened at 6:00 PM on September 6 with Aldermen Adam Howe, Lou Breshears, Rob Coskey, Eric Flores present. Aldermen Doug Hedrick and Reba Slavens were absent. Mayor Eddie Simons presided; City Clerk Jessica Kendall recorded. 
First business conducted was to approve the eve's agenda, minutes of the August 21 meeting, and okay payment of bills presented.
Also in new business, the group passed an ordinance which recognizes the level of experience possessed by prospective employees, rather than classifying each new hire at a beginning level. They also adopted an ordinance establishing specific guidelines and procedures for recruitment and hiring of officers for the city's Police Department.
Aldermen closed the open session about 6:30 PM to go into executive session. 
Its open sessions are usually held on 1st and 3rd Monday eves. Visitors are welcome.
